My surprise when this message turned up and it had come so far as well. I was really pleased to have the note and although I couldn't read it clearly because of the rain it must have travelled through, the sentiments were clear. My father fought in the 2nd World War as a Mosquito Pilot and although he was fine a lot of his friends died so Remembrance Day was always very special to him and to me also as he was fortunate to have lived through it. And this one was received from a lady who read our story in the newspaper. What a wonderful thing to do on the 11th November to let the children let loose 100 red balloons. I live in Bedford and Putnoe library is my local library I used to take my children there when they were young for story time when I lived in Putnoe. My daughter now lives in Milton Keynes as a Deputy Headmistress and I will certainly be showing her the story which is in my local newspaper Times and Citizen. It certainly will be something the children will remember for a very long time that people gave up their lives for us to have the lives we can now enjoy. Yours, a 70 year old pensioner from Bedford who used to help out in her uncle's corner shop in Wandsworth in the 50s. In other news • We had a fantastic turn out for our Maths Workshops led by Miss Welsh, Miss Wesley and our maths consultant Caroline Clissold. Your feedback tells us you were happy and would like more! We hope to see you at the next one on 4th February. • Year 6 boarded the bus to Treginnis in good spirits at 7:45am on Sunday. Fingers crossed for a pleasant breeze off the sea, the weather on the Gower Peninsula can be variable at this time of year! • The Governors met on Wednesday to scrutinise the school’s data. They were very pleased with the end of year outcomes for Key Stage 1 and 2 last year. They also looked at the progress of other year groups and heard from Miss Savage about changes to the Early Years curriculum and plans for baseline national assessments in 2015. • We will be placing the order today for the new lighting system in the bottom hall. The cost of around 9k will be met by the PTA and will enhance our assemblies and performances. We are still desperately looking for advice on upgrading our sound systems and how to put a spec together. In a school of 520 children, somebody must have a contact! Have a good week.
