Dear Congressman Huelskamp:
As Catholic and members of Sacred Heart Church in Larned, Kansas, we ask you to take a bold stance
against the administration’s mandate that is contrary to our conscience. It is abhorrent that almost
every employer and insurance company in the country will be forced to provide sterilization and
contraceptives, including abortion-inducing drugs in their health plan. Even when we have moral
religious objections, we would be required to provide such coverage.
This is a violation of one of our basic rights when we are forced to provide products of which we do not
approve. The federal government has indeed overstepped its bounds. We beg you to support the free
exercise of our religious tenets, a right which is assured by the Bill of Rights.
Please co-sponsor the Respect for Rights of Conscience Act (H.R. 1179, S. 1467) which insures that the
rights of conscience of all participants in our nation’s health care system will be respected.
