Pampered 4 Paws Hosts events
benefitting homeward Bound WV
Feature Pet
Meet Dennis
Male | Age: 4-5 mo. | Special Needs
Pampered 4 Paws hosted TWO summer Events Including
a Dog Wash and a Baseball “Bark in the Park” night .
Homeward Bound WV kicked off the
summer with a dog wash and adoption
event organized and hosted by Pampered
4 Paws. Pampered 4 Paws provided dog
washes and nail trims for dogs of all
sizes with 100% of the proceeds going to
Homeward Bound WV. They also conducted
raffles for gift baskets, and offered
refreshments for dogs and their humans to
help beat the heat. WVAQ was on location
with a live broadcast of the event.
“Pampered ‘4’ Paws approached us
wanting to do a fundraising event, and
we feel very lucky they chose us,” Jenny
Robbins, the secretary-treasurer from
Homeward Bound WV, said. “We count on
donations and fundraisers like this to help
us help more animals in the future. This is
so important to us, and we’re so thankful
for the fantastic turnout.”
Pampered 4 Paws bathed over 52 dogs &
raised over $3,000 for Homeward Bound.
It was a great success.
On Wednesday, August 5th, Pampered 4
Paws hosted the 1st Annual West Virginia
Black Bears Baseball “Bark in the Park.”
It was an evening baseball game where
you could bring your dog and enjoy a great
American past time with man’s best friend.
Anyone attending bought a human ticket as
well as a “dog” ticket. The proceeds from
dog tickets were donated to our rescue.
Dennis is a sweet little boy with cerebellar
hypoplasia (CH), which is a non-progressive,
non-contagious neurological condition that
results in walking and balance problems.
Dennis doesn’t realize there’s anything
different about him and will live a full life.
He can be adopted on his own but would do
well adopted with one of his litter mates.
For more info or to adopt Dennis, send a
message to [email protected].

The Benefits of Spaying &
Neutering your pets
Pet overpopulation is not the only
reason to spay or neuter your pet
s Reduce Aggression
neutered males have less behavior problems including
aggression and marking
s Reduce Spraying & Marking
pets are less likely to mark their territory than unaltered pets
s Lower Risk of Cancers
risk of tumors is reduced or eliminated, especially if done before
the first heat cycle
s Reduce Roaming
Altered pets are less likely to roam too far from home making
them less likely to become lost or hit by a car
s Decrease Overpopulation
every 10 seconds a dog or cat is euthanized in a US shelter
s Increase Lifespan
spayed females live 23% longer and neutered males live 18%
longer
homeward Bound WV Visits Cheat
Lake Elementary School
First Graders collect donations
for homeward bound wv
The only way that we can
save homeless pets is with
the help of foster homes
In May, first grade classes at Cheat Lake Elementary
collected donations and supplies for Homeward Bound
WV. According to their teacher, it was the students’
idea to collect the donations after learning about
responsible pet ownership in class.
To thank them for their generosity, we attended an
assembly at their school where rescue volunteers held
a storytime and read “It’s Raining Cats... and Cats”
and discussed the benefits of pet rescue work. Two
kittens were also on hand to demonstrate proper kitten
care. The students were able to ask questions about
rescuing animals and get up close to pet the kittens.

Why Become a
Foster family?
Homeward Bound WV, Inc. is a charitable, tax exempt
501(c)3, non-profit organization. Donations are tax
exempt to the extent allowed by law.
Thank you for your support!
Being a pet foster family has rewards
beyond the essential value of helping a
pet in need find a new home. For some,
it is a chance to have an animal companion without a lifetime commitment,
or to try new companions for an existing
pet. For others, it is the special change
of helping an animal recover from an
illness or injury, the trauma of losing a
beloved owner or home, or to overcome
a behavioral issue. Occasionally, it’s
the joy of giving extra TLC to kittens and
puppies too young to be adopted.
Our young kittens and puppies need to
stay in foster until they are old enough
to be spayed and neutered, at which
time they are ready for adoption.
Adult dogs and cats, need foster homes
to save them from Kill shelters, from inhumane living conditions or if an owner
simply can’t keep their beloved pet any
longer and want to see it re-homed.
We provide guidance, support and vet
care for the pets in your care. If needed,
we can provide food and litter.
