Primary 6
Class Newsletter
January – March
2017
Dear Parent / Carer,
Your child will be bringing homework as outlined below.
He/she will record homework tasks in his/her homework diary at the beginning
of each week. Each task is not particular to any night and all tasks should be
completed in pencil, unless directed otherwise, checked and signed (in the diary)
by an adult. It should then be returned to class on a Friday.
As a parent or carer you should only accept homework which is of a high
standard, both in content and presentation.
If help is needed, please assist your child to complete tasks set.
Homework Tasks
Spelling using the ‘Look, Say, Cover, Write and Check’ method should be
encouraged to help your child prepare for Friday’s test.
Sentences may be given using spelling words to ensure your child knows how to
use each one in the correct context.
Our online reading resource, ‘Bug Club’, which can be accessed at home, will give
your child an opportunity to prepare vocabulary and meet the challenges set.
Your child should read aloud to help with fluency and observation of punctuation.
Any appropriate reading material can be used for this activity.
Reinforcement of classroom work related to Literacy and Numeracy will be
ongoing throughout the year.
Occasional IDL research tasks will be set.
Watch Newsround together to help your child become aware of current events.
