The Great Getaway Contest (the “Contest”) is open to residents of Canada who have reached the age of
majority in their province or territory of residence, excluding the following persons:


Employees of Cowan Office Supplies (herein referred as “Cowans” or “Contest Sponsor”, its
parent or affiliate companies, representatives, dealers and agents, contest suppliers and judges,
and those with whom they are domiciled.
Immediate family members (defined as mother, father, brother, sister, son, daughter, or spouse,
regardless of where you reside) of Employees and any persons residing in the same household
as an employee or a family member.
Contest Period starts at 8:30am on Monday October 15, 2012 and continues until 5:00pm on December
15, 2012, the contest closing date. Purchase Necessary. All times are Pacific Times.
1. To enter the contest you must place a $200CDN (before shipping and taxes) order online at
www.cowans.org. OR purchase $50CDN (before shipping and taxes) in-store and fill out a ballot
2. Prize(s) – participants are eligible to win one (1) grand prize, consisting of a one (1) week all inclusive
stay at a Palace Resort.
a. You have a choice of 4 locations in 4 destinations to choose from. Cancun, Puerto Vallarta,
Cozumel, Punta Cana
b. Airfare is NOT included,
c. Once you have booked your airfare a member of “Cowans” will organize the trip
reservations at the Palace Resort of your choosing.
d. No travel between December 15, 2012 and January 3, 2013.
e. Six (6) nights; standard accommodation based on double occupancy.
f. Trip must be taken before April 22, 2013
The actual retail value of the Grand Prize will depend on the resort location chosen by the winner and
other trip elements, but will not exceed $5000 CDN. For the purpose of determining Grand Prize trip
component values, the determinations of the Prize supplier will be final and binding. Any difference
between the maximum value listed above and the actual value of the Grand Prize will not be awarded.
Any costs and expenses associated with the Grand Prize and not specifically referred to in the Contest
Rules (including without limitation transportation to and from the airport, airfare, incidental hotel
expenses, additional spending money, additional accommodations if required, additional meals,
gratuities, travel health insurance, optional car rental insurance and items of a personal nature) and the
taxes in respect of any such additional expenses are the sole and exclusive responsibility of the winner
and his/her guests. Each member of the prize group is solely responsible for obtaining all required
travel documentation in advance of the departure date.
Prize winner must be of legal age of majority in their jurisdictions of residence.
If you are unable to complete travel by April 22, 2013, the winner must forfeit the Grand Prize in its
entirety. If requested by the prize supplier, a winner who has forfeited his/her right to claim the Grand
Prize, releasing the prize supplier from any liability in respect of the contest and/or the forfeiture of the
Grand Prize and any other terms that the prize supplier may include in such release at the prize suppliers
sole discretion.
The above description constitutes the expected components and details of the Grand Prize; all aspects
of the Grand Prize trip are subject to availability, schedules, weather conditions and other factors
beyond the Prize Supplier’s control and are subject to change. Black-out dates for travel and
accommodation and other restrictions may apply. The Grand Prize is not transferable and must be
accepted as awarded. The Grand Prize cannot be substituted or redeemed for cash or otherwise, except
in the Prize Supplier’s sole discretion. The Prize Supplier reserves the right to substitute the Grand Prize,
or a component thereof, of equivalent or greater value if the Grand Prize or any component thereof
cannot be awarded as described for any reason. The Prize Supplier will not be responsible if factors
beyond its reasonable control prevent the Grand Prize or any components thereof from being fulfilled,
including if the winner or any guests are unable or unwilling to travel or participate in any activities for
health or any other reasons, for example if such persons cannot meet the requirements of the
commercial airline, car rental company and/or activity provider(s) as described above. In any such
event, the Prize Supplier reserves the right not to substitute prizes or provide cash equivalents.
3. Draw – A random draw by a representative of Cowan Office Supplies from all entries received will be
made at approximately 10:30am on December 17, 2012 at Cowan Office Supplies 517 Victoria
Street, Nelson, British Columbia. Selected entrant will be contacted by email at the email address
indicated on his/her entry.
4. If the selected entrant cannot be reached within five(5) business days following the first attempt of
contact, incorrectly answers the skill-testing question, declines or forfeits the prize, or fails or
refuses to sign and return any of the documentation specified in Rule 6 below, Contest Sponsor
reserves the right, at its sole discretion, to select another entrant. If requested by the Prize Supplier,
a winner who has forfeited his/her right to the Grand Prize must sign a release confirming that
he/she forfeits the Grand Prize described in rule 3 above.
5. Before being declared winner, any entrant selected by Cowans will also be required to sign a
declaration of eligibility and release form indicating that the selected entrant; (a) has complied and
agress to comply with these Contest Rules; (b) accepts the Grand Prize as offered; (c) will keep
his/her winning notification confidential until notified by the Prize Supplier; (d) releases the Contest
Sponsor from any liability arising from his/her participation in the Contest or his/her acceptance,
use, misuse or awarding of the Grand Prize (including any associated travel); (e) indemnifies the
Released Parties from any and all losses that the Released Parties may incur arising out of any act or
omission by any member of the Prize Group in connection with the Sweepstakes or the Grand Prize
Trip; and (f) except where prohibited by law, acknowledges the Released Parties and their
authorized representatives right to disclose, publish and/or broadcast the Contest winner’s picture,
name, address, voice, likeness and/or statements inside or outside of Canada without further

compensation other than the Grand Prize offered. Entrants acknowledge that the Release may also
contain such other terms and conditions as the Prize Supplier, in its sole discretion, may deem
necessary. Entrants acknowledge that, before receiving or participating in any element of the Grand
Prize package they may be required by the Activity providers to sign additional waiver/release and
indemnity documentation, which documentation is unrelated to the Release.
By entering this contest and/or accepting a prize, entrants consent to the use of their entry, name,
city or residence and/or voice, statements, any photographs or other likenesses for publicity,
advertising or informational purposes carried out by Cowan Office Supplies and/or its advertising
agencies in any medium or format without further notice or compensation.
The Contest is subject to all applicable federal, provincial and municipal laws and regulations.
Except as specified in these Contest Rules, no communications will be entered into except with
selected entrants.
Odds of winning depend on the number of eligible entries.
Cowans is collecting personal data about entrants for the purpose of administering this contest. No
further informational or marketing communications will be received by entrants unless entrants
provide Cowans with explicit permission to do so as indicated on the entry ballot.
Contest Sponsor assumes no responsibility for failure of the internet or the website during the
Contest Period, for any problems or technical malfunction of any telephone network or lines,
computer on-line systems, servers, access providers, computer equipment, software, failure of any
email or traffic congestion on the internet or at any website, or any combination thereof. Any
attempt to deliberately damage any web site or to undermine the legitimate operation of this
promotion is a violation of criminal and civil laws. Should such an attempt be made, Contest
Sponsor reserves the right to seek remedies and damages to the fullest extent permitted by law,
including criminal prosecution.
