Médecins du Monde (MdM) is an international humanitarian organization whose mission is to
provide medical care for the most vulnerable populations, the world over, including France. It
seeks to stimulate voluntary commitment from doctors, other health care providers, and from
those whose expertise in other fields is needed for its activities, to enlist all competent support
required for the achievement of its projects, and to seek at all times to encourage close working
relationships with populations in its care.
For our program in of Iraq, to support MdM activities,
we are looking for
1 Part-time Translator/English teacher, to start ASAP
MAIN RESPONSIBILITIES
Under the supervision of the Administrative Coordinator s/he is in charge of assisting the
mission, with the following responsibilities


I.
Translation (English/ Arabic/Kurdish) of documents and oral translation during meetings and any
other professional conversations.
Teaching English language to the staff
TASKS DESCRIPTION:
Translation







Work closely with the all team, translating exactly and fully from Arabic or Kurdish / English and viceversa, everything said by either party in the consultation or conversation.
Ask questions to the team if words and sentences are not well understood to be sure ideas are well
communicated
Kindly interrupt the speakers when it is needed to have time to translate
Behave with self-restraint at all times and treat speakers kindly and with respect.
Explain with other words if there is some misunderstanding.
Translate written documents (English/Arabic/Kurdish)
Provide any help when requested to any member of the team
Teaching English lessons :





Teaching English language to the staff
Developing English lesson plans
Following up the staff attending the English classes with presence sheet
Prepare and request home works from staff who will take English lessons
Ensure that the staff tries to communicate in English

Other duties:






II.
Participate in internal work meetings
Attend trainings, when requested by MdM
Report any security related issues to the supervisor
Support the operational organization of field trips and MdM programs/activities
Maintain full confidentiality for all work-related information
On request: Perform any additional duties on instruction given.
Minimum Level of Competency:










Minimum education level: Bachelor degree in English as a teacher
A minimum of 2 year of professional experience as a translator
A minimum of 2 years experience as an English teacher
Good knowledge particularly with Excel and Word
English,Arabic and Kurdish speaking and writing
Strong experience of teaching english lessons
Strong sense of responsibility
Strong experience on procurement and purchasing
Strong organization skills
Team player
