QUAD (“QUality ADvisor”) is a MES software
suite developed by ASTER Technologies to
trace your actions and optimize your design
and production costs, with the help of Repair
Assistant and Faults Advisor.
• Operation
• Setup
By implementing the
advanced Root Cause
Management, QUAD is
now able to explore
more easily the possible
causes of failure related
to defects.

Root Cause Analysis is a procedure for
ascertaining and analyzing the causes
of problems, to determine how these
problems can be solved or be prevented
from occurring. It is a process to help
stakeholders to understand problem
causes well enough to achieve
permanent resolution of that problem.

What is the Goal?
ROOT CAUSE
• Overview
Identify and process the real cause of the problem,
rather than processing its symptoms (Defect
codes).

• What is the goal?
• Principle
• How can I do this?
• Operation
• Setup
The goal of the root cause analysis is to discover:
‰What is the problem?
‰Why is there a problem?
‰How to prevent the problem from occurring again.

How can I do this?
ROOT CAUSE
• Overview
• What is it?
• What is the goal?
Root Cause data collection is achieved
by using the diagnostic and repair
module: QuadStation.
• Principle
• How can I do this?
• Operation
• Setup
The first step is to find the
failure by using the
available diagnostic help
tools: Repair Advisor,
Sherlock assistant, Shortcircuit finder, QuadView…

During the graphical data collection and after
selecting the defect code, a default root cause is
automatically provided.
HTML/PDF documents are available to help you
choose the correct root cause (Info).
