“Whose child is this?” I asked again
As the door open and someone came in.
“Mine” said the teacher with the same tender smile
To train and direct his dear little mind
To help him live by every rule
And get the best he can from school.
“Whose child is this?” I asked once more
And each took the hand of the little child.

Your
Although kindergarteners are “Big
Kids” they sometimes have accidents. Please send a complete
change of clothes in a Ziploc bag
with your child’s name. These
clothes will be kept in your child’s
cubby “just in case.”
You may also send a towel or
small blanket for your child to use
during nap. The blanket or towel
will be sent home every Friday to
be washed and returned on Monday.
Your child will have a “Take Home
Folder.” This folder will come
home on Monday and needs to be
returned on Tuesday. Please review
all papers in folder. One side of the
folder is labeled “Review” and the
other is labeled “Sign and Return.”
The items on the “Return” side
need to come back to school.
These items may need a signature,
if so please sign it and return it to
school inside the folder. Whether
there are items in the folder to be
returned or not please return the
folder the next
school day. child will have an agenda. The agenda will
go home daily. The agenda will be my
way of communicating with you daily.
Please read the daily note and sign your
child’s agenda. Please check the back
pocket of the agenda daily. You may also
use the pockets to send any communications to me. Please send your child’s
agenda to school everyday.
If your child’s transportation from school
changes please send a written note so we
can make sure they go to the correct
place.
Our school day starts at 7:45 and ends at
2:30. This means instruction begins at
7:45 and ends at 2:30. If your child comes
to school late or leaves early they will
miss important instruction time. Please
have your child at school by 7:30 so they
are able to eat breakfast before class
starts.
We realize that you are your child’s first and most
important
teacher. We
can not do
this without
you! Please
feel free to
contact me with any questions or concerns about
your child. The school number is 374-2221. Call
and leave a message and I will call you back the very
first chance I have. You may also email me at
[email protected] or send a note in your
child’s Agenda or Take Home Folder.
To keep track of student’s behavior we will use a color
chart. Each student will start the day on
green. On the students second warning they
will move to yellow, which means they need
to be careful and watch their behavior. At
this time Mrs. Cattenhead or I will talk with
the student about their behavior and have
them identify the rule that was broken and
what they should have done instead. Once
the student is on yellow if they receive another warning they will move to red. At this
point they will have time out to think about
their behavior and regroup themselves before rejoining the group. If your child is on
red you will receive a note detailing their
behavior. If the student is on red for three
consecutive days I will contact you by phone
or request a conference so that together we
can make a plan to get your child back on
track, remember this is a joint effort.
When a student’s color is changed to yellow
they can earn their way back to green by
correcting their behavior
and getting back on track, if
a
student is on red
they can earn
their way back to yellow.
