26 FLIGHT. HERE AND JANUARY 5, 1939 THERE proved t o everyone's entire satisfaction, judging b y the cheers, t h a t there was, in fact, no difference a t all between Works and Management; all were workers, and if only everyone would approach the problems t h a t arose between them in Shakespeare's " S p i r i t of Sweet Reasonableness," t h e atmosphere of good fellowship which G. A. always tried t o maintain would persist. Mr. S. J . Noel-Brown (secretary) proceeded to contradict officially some baseless rumours flying around, such as one to the effect t h a t Mr. Gordon England had been appointed Editor of The New Propeller. T h e lights failed a t this point, which gave him a n opportunity t o invent a few more insidious whisperings t o contradict. Sir Maurice Bonham Carter, the chairman of General Aircraft (who, incidentally, had a great deal of experience in the quantity production of aircraft during the War, when he was with Lord Weir a t the Air Ministry) said nice things about everyone, a n d was heartily applauded and half-heartily believed. Miss Florence Desmond, with her brilliant impersonations, •was among the artistes a t the cabaret show which followed. On a Sound Basis AVING applied their specialised knowledge gained from H airscrew manufacture to t h e problems of manufacturing industrial ventilating fans, the Airscrew Co., L t d . , of Weybridge, now have a special department devoted to this class cf manufacture, a n d are able to supply air-conditioning, ventilating a n d dust- a n d fume-removing plants to suit all purposes.
