Dream On
Cradley serenades the Queen
‘If we shadows have offended,
Think but this and all is mended,
That you have but slumber'd here
While these visions did appear.’
The summer play almost feels like a dream now. Wow, what a
fantastic production, with stellar performances from the Year 6
children. A great big thank you to all the staff and parents who
have been involved in the production. We could not have done it
without you.
On Wednesday Cradley choir took part in the Diamond Day
celebration for the Queen’s visit to Hereford. The choir was invited
to join with other school choirs and a 100-piece orchestra to
perform for the Queen. It was a thoroughly enjoyable day, and the
children made Mrs Paton and Miss Robinson very proud, as they sang
beautifully and behaved fantastically. They also performed This is
our World on the bandstand stage. It was lovely to have lots of
parents join us for this once-in-a-lifetime event.
Key Stage 1 trip
We were delighted to receive a letter from Mr and Mrs Simons of
Birtsmorton, who were in Hereford Cathedral at the same time as
KS1 last week. They wrote: ‘We are writing to say how impressed we
were with your children’s behaviour. In their groups they all
seemed to settle busily and sensibly to carrying out their tasks as
they explored the cathedral. They were great ambassadors for
your school.’ Well done KS1, and thank you to Mr and Mrs Simons
for taking the time to write. It is a real pleasure to receive such
letters.
The Stage
For the Year 6 play, we rely on the generosity of Cradley Players
for the use of their large stage and David Robertson’s time and
effort in providing the lighting. We are aiming to move the stage
back to storage on Sunday morning at 9:30am. If any fit and able
parents are able to help, we would be extremely grateful.
DVDs will be on sale from Monday in the school office, priced at £5
each.
FOCS Disco
The FOCS end of term disco is arranged for today, Friday 13th July
at the Village Hall, 6:30-8:30pm .
Music Tuition
If anyone would like more information about music tuition in school,
please speak to Mrs Jones as soon as possible so that we can make
the necessary arrangements for next term. If you are continuing
with lessons, the teachers will be in touch with you directly.
school grounds and tried to work out how they might travel to a new
place to grow.

Monday: preparation for Leavers’ Assembly.

forward to the future. (No parents please.)
Friday: Leavers’ Awards Assembly in the school hall (2pm). Parents
are welcome to join us.
Nursery
We have completed our Bookstart Rhyme challenge this week with
Wind the Bobbin Up, so certificates all round next week. We have
had a very woolly week, learning all about where wool comes from,
and on Welly Walk we found lots of items made from wool. One sock
was stuck up a tree and the children came up with lots of ideas on
how to get it down. We are learning to make pom poms so we can
sew them to our woolly hats in the winter. We enjoyed watching the
Year 6 play this week and have been looking forward to the Teddy
Bears’ picnic today with class 1. Next Friday there will be some fond
farewells to the pre-school children at our cakes and presentation
afternoon as they prepare to fly the nest - all the way across the
corridor to Class 1!
Class 1
Class 1 has had a great week. We had a whole day working on the
story of the Three Little Pigs. We made zig–zag books, little piggy
masks and constructed houses from straw, sticks and (Lego) bricks.
We loved watching the Year 6 play. It was very, very good and some
children are already excited about performing in the Christmas
nativity!
Class 2
Well done to the Year 2 children who supported the KS2 production
Dream On. It was a super performance and the children loved being
part of it. This Thursday saw the children out on another trip, this
time to JMHS for the multi-skills morning, ably lead by the senior
children, some of whom we recognised. The sun shone, Cradley
School won the ‘Best Dressed School’ certificate and James was
awarded ‘Best Dressed Boy’ out of all the children there! The
children worked really hard and behaved beautifully.
Class 3
It has been a very busy week in class 3. We have finished our Greek
pots and they look brilliant. We also made up our own science
investigations, looking at the effects of exercise. Well done to all
the children for singing and dancing so marvellously in the play. We
all worked hard to make it a fantastic performance.
Class 4
While the choir was in Hereford on Wednesday, the rest of the Key
Stage 2 children made some brilliant maths games for Class 2. Just
before lunch, Class 2 came to test them out, and really enjoyed
playing them with their KS2 helpers. In science, Year 5 has been
learning about seed dispersal. We found lots of seeds around the
Class 5
We all so enjoyed performing Dream On this week. It was really
worth all the hard work. During the last two days we have been
learning emergency life skills as part of the Heartstart training
scheme. This includes learning what to do if someone is choking,
bleeding severely, loses consciousness or stops breathing. Next
week we will prepare for our Leavers’ Assembly, spend a morning
making pizzas at Pizza Express and enjoy a Leavers’ Rounders
Tournament and BBQ. Don’t forget to return slips for these last
two events.
