Production history
These recordings were collected between 19 March 1974 and 31 August 1976 by linguists Ian Malcolm
and Susan Kaldor during fieldwork at Strelley, Wittenoom, Marble Bar, Yandeeyarra, Onslow,
Jigalong, Nullagine, Port Hedland and Roebourne in the Pilbara region of Western Australia. They
represent a part of the research for the West Australian Aboriginal Children's English Project
(WAACE). The purpose of the field trips was to document and analyse the spoken English of
Aboriginal school children. The children, and adults, who participated in the project include Mr John
