PRINCIPAL MESSAGE
ISN’T IT GREAT WHEN ………………………. we have children
from as young as grade one come and share facts about the solar
system. What’s better still is when we share these facts and we have a
parent who is involved and immediately googles one of the facts to
find the accurate answer. We also had a discussion about the hottest
planet and one of our children in grade three challenged a child when
he said Mercury was the hottest planet for good reason. We googled
which is the hottest planet and came up with this answer.
Venus is the hottest planet in our solar system, even hotter than
Mercury, the planet closest to the sun. Venus, whose daytime
temperature can reach 900 degrees Fahrenheit (464 degrees
Celsius), is surrounded by a thick layer of gas that consists mostly of
carbon dioxide. When the sun's rays reach Venus, the carbon
dioxide traps the heat, causing a kind of planetary greenhouse effect.
Therefore, through discussion and sharing work, the children
were able to add to their understanding of the planets. We
were also able to use technology to quickly access
information. Murssal, Mitchell and Indiana from 1A7 along
June 5
with Jonathon from IP6 wrote very informative facts about
Step into Prep planets, which they did not copy from books. It came from
books the class had shared and other information sharing
2.25 - 3.15
sessions. From remembering these facts they all came up with
very different information about planets. Murssal’ s work has

been scanned in to the side for you to have a look at.
Congratulations to all of the children for persisting and
Public Holiday working hard to complete work of a very high standard.

IF YOU HAVE CONCERNS
Prep Dinosaur
Incursion
Sometimes we have parents approach children when there has been an incident with their child. We
ask that you don’t do this and bring your concern to the school. The reason for this is that we hear the
whole story and know the background to the incident. In addition, we ask that children don’t converse
with adults who they don’t know, because we need to promote safe practices. I hope you communicate
this with your children as well, so that we both promote this important safety message.
SCHOOL
HOURS
If parents approach children, things can go horribly wrong and we want to avoid this as best we can.
Please ensure that you bring any of your concerns to the school because if we don’t hear them, there is
nothing we can do to resolve the issue.

To ensure the safety of all students,
when collecting your children prior to
the end of the school day, can you
please ensure you bring some form of
photo identification with you?
If your child arrives late to school they
need to come via the office to collect a
late pass so they can be recorded as
present for the day.
Thank you
