Bb Student Important Notes for Students How to Guide Limitations CALIFORNIA STATE UNIVERSITY, SACRAMENTO The Bb Student app works with our campus SacCT(Blackboard) system so that Students can view course content, receive updates about courses and complete some content such as tests, discussions, assignments via a mobile device. The following table provides a summary of the limitations and work around options for use of Bb Student with some SacCT Features. Description Activity Stream New Posted Content Course Content Tests Questions Test Exceptions Collaborate Sessions Limitation New Discussions, Blogs, Journals, Wikis or Groups do not appear in the Activity Stream or Due Dates (calendar area). New content that displays in stream is specific to announcements posted by instructor or administration, new content such as files, and new or upcoming tests and assignments posted to a course or courses. New content posted may not appear immediately to a student if he/she is logged into the app already. Log out and log back in to app to refresh activity stream area and in individual course areas. Tests, Assignments and Discussions open within Bb Student interface. Other content such Journals, Blogs, Wikis and Course Messages, etc. will open in a view comparable to what you see in a browser. Content can still be completed within this browser view but you may need to zoom in to view content more effectively. Tests with the following question types can be taken within Bb Student: Multiple Choice, True / False, Either / Or, Short Answer, and Essay. If tests contain other question types, Bb Student directs you to a browser view to complete the test. Test Exceptions added to an exam by instructor to allow for extra time or to retake exam, will not apply/work if student accesses exam in Bb Student app. The test exception will only work if student accesses the exam through SacCT on a computer (desktop or laptop) through a regular browser window. Our campus is not using Collaborate Ultra, so Collaborate sessions cannot be accessed through the Bb Student App. Access collaborate sessions from a computer.
