Bianco By-the-Glass ¼ Bottle Tocco Prosecco – Veneto, Italy 8 Prosecco may soon surpass the production levels of Champagne due to a recent surge in popularity. Tocco is a delicate, well-balanced Prosecco, showing a good blend of baked apple, sour lemon and grapefruit, with a lightly creamy mineral texture on the palate. Tiamo Pinot Grigio ‘11 – Veneto, Italy 6 Fresh and rich fruity aromas of apple and pear with a hint of citrus fruit that fade into the floral bouquet. Tiamo Pinot Grigio is clean and crisp and pairs well with a wide array of lighter cuisine, especially fish/shellfish, poultry, and pastas in cream sauce. It's also an ideal aperitif. Foxglove Chardonnay ‘10 – Edna Valley, California (RP * 90) 9 This wine possesses tons of ripe, varietal fruit in a style that is quite rich but not heavy. Clean citrus and floral notes add freshness on the long finish. Lees stirring gives the wine much of its richness, while aging in steel helps maintain freshness. There is remarkable depth and textural finesse here, never mind a price that is mind-boggling for this level of quality. Spy Valley Sauvignon Blanc ‘12 – Marlborough, New Zealand 9 Spy Valley’s 2011 Sauvignon Blanc is intensely scented of freshly chopped herbs, lime zest and kumquat with hints of lemon tart and gooseberry. Medium bodied, it offers a very good concentration of citrus and herbal flavors with great balance and a long refreshing finish. A by Acacia Chardonnay ‘11 – Carneros, California 6 This Chardonnay reveals layers of baked apple and pear, green apple, white peach and hazelnut flavors that expand across the palate. Notes of hazelnut and toasted oak come from barrel fermentation, while sur lie aging adds weight to the luscious texture. This wine's bright, balanced acidity makes it ideal for pairing with white meats; seafood and freshwater fish; and creamy soups, pasta or risotto. Pacific Rim Riesling ‘11 – Columbia Valley, Washington (WE * 90) 6.5 Portrays bright crispness, subtle sweetness and aromas of jasmine, pear and apple, this wine exemplifies the harmony of Riesling. The sweetness plays wonderfully with fiery fare, while the natural acidity stands up to richer foods. Right on the borderline between dry and sweet, this richly fruity Riesling is packed with flavors of peach, apricot, pear, a hint of mint, and a streak of wet stone. There is a lot going on for such an inexpensive wine. Bodini Chardonnay ’11 – Mendoza, Argentina (RP * 89) 7.5 Aromas of pear, apple, melon, and mineral lead to a savory, spicy, intensely flavored wine with excellent depth and concentration for its humble price. Bodini's 2011 Chardonnay saw 70% of the wine aged in stainless steel and 30% aged for 3 months in second use French oak. Marenco “Strev” Moscato d’ Asti ‘11 – Piedmont, Italy The Italians call it frizzante, lightly bubbling. The sweet, peachy, floral flavors of the wine lend an exotic edge to the fruit. Perfect for after dinner desserts, as an aperitif, or even with brunch. 8 Rosso By-the-Glass ¼ Bottle 14° Secolo Chianti (Sangiovese) ‘10 – Tuscany, Italy 6 This is a classic example of Chianti with ruby red color, with aromas of violet. The palate is harmonious and lightly tannic with mouth-watering red fruit. d’Arenberg “Stump Jump” Shiraz ‘10 – McLaren Vale, Australia (Tanzer * 88) 6.5 The nose is chock-full of fresh blackberries, cherries and dark chocolate sprinkled with spices. The palate is fresh and juicy, ripe red fruits mix with plums, blackcurrant, flowers and a twist of black pepper. The tannins are fine with d'Arenberg's trademark earthiness helping keep this easy going wine in check. Hey Mambo “Sultry Red” (Syrah/Barbera/Zinfandel/Malbec) ‘10 –Napa, California 7 This wine has aromas reminiscent of an old-fashioned soda shop, fresh baked cherry pie, root beer, tobacco, caramel, and vanilla. This Italian-style sultry red has intensity and depth, with flavors of pomegranate, black cherry, cola, and dark chocolate laced with clove, espresso, and caramelized oak. Charles & Charles Red Blend (Cabernet/Syrah) ‘11 – Columbia Valley, Washington 7.5 The wine is dark, almost black, with a brooding nose of blackberry, cranberry, tobacco and sweet oak. The fruit carries through on the palette where you also find great texture, soft tannins and a long finish. The Cabernet Sauvignon was raised in 1-3 year old French oak barrels and the Syrah was fermented and aged in stainless steel. Benegas Malbec ‘10 – Mendoza, Argentina 7 Dark ruby-colored, the nose offers up an aromatic array of smoke, spice box, tobacco, and black cherry. Suave and medium-bodied on the palate, it has plenty of ripe, sweet fruit, excellent depth of flavor, and a lengthy, pure finish. Belle Glos (Caymus) “Meiomi” Pinot Noir ‘11 – Sonoma, California (RP * 92) 11 Luxurious and dynamic aromas of ripe strawberry, bright cherry and faint notes of spicy oak and vanilla. The complexity of the palate smoothly layers rich red currant notes and baking spice flavors with light smoke, earth and leather. A balanced, velvety texture and supple tannins carry the wine through to a lingering, succulent finish. Rock & Vine “Three Ranches” Cabernet Sauvignon ‘11 – North Coast, California 8 The elegant styled Rock & Vine exhibits gorgeous aromatics of pure black cherry and cassis interwoven with black tea and toasty oak. Medium bodied, with a solid core of blackberry and dark cherry fruit and hints of tobacco notes followed by great texture, sweet tannins, dense weight, equilibrium and a long finish. Angeline Pinot Noir Reserve ‘11 – Sonoma County, California 8 This wine has a brilliant, deep ruby color with delicate aromas of strawberry and a whisper of vanilla. Bright flavors of ripe raspberries and strawberries, layered with subtle nuances of vanilla oak lead to a rich, full fruit finish. Seghesio Zinfandel ‘11 – Sonoma County, California (WE * 93) 11 Bold aromas of briary wild berry and cracked pepper lead to plush and layered black raspberry, toasty sage and espresso flavors that finish with zesty tannins. This lusty Zinfandel offers elegant berry fruit, lots of peppery spice, medium to full-bodied flavors and impressive purity as well as richness. Hess Select Treo Winemaker’s Blend (Merlot/Syrah/Petite Sirah/Malbec) ‘10 – California This blend has aromas of wild cherry, plum, vanilla, wild berry and black currant jam. It enters the palate with juicy flavors of cranberry, pomegranate and black cherry, while the finish is long and soft. Hess Select wines originate from their California grower partners who share their sustainable farming philosophy. 9 Sparkling Bubbly Fizzy Lively Cheerful “Too much of anything is bad, but too much Champagne is just right." - F. The sensuous curves of Riedel’s new lead crystal, mouth blown decanters are not only seductive, but functional. 34
