PARISH ADORATION & BENEDICTION First Friday of the month after 9:00am Mass to 10:30am. Pentecost Sunday If you’ve been watching TV hospital dramas for a long time you may remember Dr. Kildare. Richard Chamberlain played that role back in the 1960s. More recently you may have viewed programs like “ER,” “House,” “Scrubs,” “Grey’s Anatomy” and “General Hospital” to cite a few. A dramatic moment in many hospital dramas is when the patient’s EKG monitor stops beeping. The once pulsing line on the screen goes flat and a dull, warning tone signals that death is only seconds away. It’s time for fast action, and the famous defibrillator comes to the rescue. The doctors place the electric pads on the patient’s chest and dramatically shout, “Clear!” The patient rolls under the shock of 200 joules and sags back motionless. The charge is increased and, just in time, the second try re-starts the heartbeat. The flat line breaks into little pops of life, and the dull tone returns to happy beeping. Sometimes, when our faith life flat lines we need the power of Pentecost to jolt us back into action. As described in today’s first reading from the Acts of the Apostles, the Holy Spirit descended as tongues of fire. The “divine lightning” zapped down and touched the disciples, empowering them to go forth and preach the Gospel to all nations. By Deacon Dick Folger Youth Ministry Greetings to all! On behalf of our Youth Ministry team here at St. Alex, I would like to thank all those that supported us in so many ways this year! Especially to CWL and Knights of Columbus for their generous donations through the FUN Wine and Cheese Social, Easter Baskets, and Bake Sale. All of your prayers and love were felt as well! To my leaders for commitment and service, Father Mitch and Jeanie for their leadership, friendship and support. Lastly, to the youth for.... just being Awesome! It was quite the year, as I am very surprised how the Holy Spirit has worked so tremendously. I see a wonderful change in many of the youth for HE is working in a time that we so desperately need HIM to! We look forward to next year so please keep us in your prayers. If interested in helping next year please call me at 905-892-1908 or email me at [email protected]. We will have a leaders meeting in early September. We take a break now till October aside from the Steubenville summer youth conference on July 7-9. Wishing you all Heavenly Blessings and a Peaceful Heart that only comes from Jesus, our dearest Lord!
