Teacher-marked activities: guide for students What are teacher-marked activities? Teacher-marked activities are the Speaking and Writing Activities on the English Campus. You can see your scores for teacher-marked activities once they have been marked by a teacher. You can complete teacher-marked Writing Activities and Speaking Activities as part of a course or as practice. Completing a Writing Activity A Writing Activity opens in the same exercise player as all other activities on the English Campus. Read the instructions on the first screen. Before you complete the Writing Activity you might have a text to read or a listening clip. Click ‘Forward’ to go to the next screen. Write your answer to the question in the box. Hint: Do not write ‘Yes’ or ‘No’, write a full sentence or more to answer the question. When you have finished, click ‘Submit’. © Macmillan Publishers Ltd 2013 1 Student guide Completing a Speaking Activity A Speaking Activity also opens in the same exercise player. Read the instructions and watch/ listen to the clip to hear the question. Click on the microphone icon to open the recorder and record your answer. This box will appear. Click on the red record button. When it flashes, you can start recording. Click the red button again to stop recording. You can play your recorded answer by clicking on the blue play button. Use the ‘Forward’ button to work through the questions and click ‘Submit’ when you have finished. Viewing your scores for teacher-marked activities When you have submitted a teacher-marked activity, you will see ‘Being marked/ graded’ next to the teacher-marked activity on the Studies or Practice page. This means your teacher has not marked the activity yet. © Macmillan Publishers Ltd 2013 2 Student guide When your teacher has marked the activity, a flashing ‘Grading/Marking’ button will appear under your courses on the Home page. Click on it to see the Speaking and/or Writing Activities you have completed. If you cannot see the button, you do not have any new scores from your teacher. Once your teacher has given you a score, you will see it here. If you see ‘To be graded/ marked’, it means your teacher has not given you a score yet. Click on the ‘View’ button to see details about your score. If you see this icon, it means your teacher has left you a comment. Click on the icon to open it and read. If, in a Speaking Activity, you see the microphone is yellow, it means your teacher has recorded a comment. Click on the microphone to listen. Then, click on the blue play button, next to ‘Teacher recording’. Once you have seen the score for a teacher-marked resource, you will not see the ‘Grading/Marking’ button in your My Studies box, but you can still see your scores on your Studies or Practice page. © Macmillan Publishers Ltd 2013 3
