6a The Goodland Star-News / Tuesday, August 16, 2011 Classes get together to remember Goodland High School alumni from the classes of 1969, 1970 and 1971 gathered Friday evening at Fixsen’s Electronics on Main Ave. for a good time and remembering their years at school. Dennis Saint (top photo) had a time getting the three classes to gather for a class photo as he directed the 1969 alumni to get into place. Randall Fixsen said he had invited everyone to come, and the building was filled with people and lots of food. He had found the lettering for the old gas sign, and many thought it was funny to list the class of 1971 as “unleaded.” Photos by Tom Betz/The Goodland Star-News Alumni fill town for all-school reunion WEEKEND, from Page 1A Cher “If I Could Turn Back Time,” Sabrina Twombly Erhart class of 1999 sang “I Don’t Know Why” and the Double Shot band led by Shad Sheldon class of 1983 and Gwen Mitchek Mai class of 1997 sang “Can’t You See” and “Who Says You Can’t Go Home.” Doyle Boothroy, class of 1943, read a tribute to the departed called “Winds of Time.” Ron Schilling, The Cow Guy, class of 1977 talked about raising sons and getting them educated to go on their first date. Congressman taking applications for district office interns for fall The Office of Congressman Tim Huelskamp is accepting applications for the fall internship program in the Salina, Dodge City and Hutchinson offices. “I encourage college students or recent graduates looking to gain valuable knowledge of how Congress operates, and how federal legislation affects Kansas, to apply,” Congressman Huelskamp said. “This is a wonderful opportunity for interested young men and women to obtain greater understanding of the legislative process and constituent services.” Interns may be asked to complete a variety of tasks, including day-today office work such as answering phones, writing letters and assisting with media clips. In addition, interns may be assigned to assist with constituent casework, or attend Congressman Huelskamp’s public events throughout the First District. Students will be given flexible hours to accommodate their course schedules, but hours generally run from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. This is an unpaid internship. Additional information about the internship program can be found at http://huelskamp.house.gov/ internships.
