People came here for treatment from all over the world, and marble tablets with inscriptions of gratitude for successful cures can still be seen on the walls. Lukács has thermal pools, swimming and adventure pools, a wellness section, saunas and a variety of services. The recently established open-air workout room is on the roof terrace. The constantly upgraded Rudas is a perfect blend of longestablished and modern bathing traditions. The core of today’s spa was established during the Turkish occupation in the 16th century, and the Turkish bath, that is, the currently operating Rudas, is nearly 500 years old. The view from here is superb, encompassing the incomparable Danube Bend. The imposing citadel is not far away; during the reign of King Matthias, who had it rebuilt in Renaissance style, a fountain ran not with water but with wine during meetings of heads of state.
