About Department of Social Work:
Work
The Department of Social Work was formed in the year 2011 and is
an integral part of the School of Humanities and Social Sciences in
Gautam Buddha University. The Department has an eclectic mix of
enviable and experienced faculty members. The Department aims
to
o provide both academic and professional exposure to students in
the field of social work which encompasses social work in
administration, welfare, policy development, community
organisation, building human resources, research and
documentation among others.
s. The Department strives to enhance
the intellectual faculties of students and individuals through both
scholastic and field endeavours by engaging them in classroom
discussions, field work with institutions and open communities and
provide them exposure to national and international events and so
on. The Department of Social Work offers Ph.D. and two years
Master Degree programmes which is spread out in four semesters.

The Vision of the Department:
The vision of the Department is “to nurture and develop dynamic
and competent social work professionals to address the challenges
and concerns of the 21st century that facilitates changes at the level
of policy formation and academic advancement. It is an endeavour
to inculcate research aptitude, analytical ability, innovative
programming and thrusting on development models for social work
practice in different spheres of human existence”.
Eligibility Criteria:
Graduation in any discipline from a recognized college/University
with minimum 45% marks (40% for SC/ST) or equivalent grade.
Last date of Application (online): 11th July 2016
Mode of selection: Direct admission based on merit basis in
qualifying examination (mark in graduation)
Declaration of Merit list: 18th July 2016
Total No. of seats: 30
Career prospect and placements:
There are ample job opportunities for MSW degree holders in
government sector, non- governmental organisations (local,
national and international), corporate firms, research based
organisations and teaching among others. Students opt for jobs
based on their expert field areas like project management, family
and child welfare, social welfare administration, community
organization, medical & psychiatric social work, rural & urban
development, micro finance, labour legislation, gender and so on.
Some MSW degree holders can prefer to be self-employed by
establishing their own NGOs or consultancy firms. All the passes
out student have been placed.

Academic Fee: 24000/- (Per-session)
One time Registration fee: 10,000/Refundable Security Deposit: 10,000/Hostel accommodation is optional for MSW programme.
