Choose a movement that interests you. When you have decided upon a movement, you will conduct further research about an artist or movement and explore the techniques and styles associated with the movement or artist. Taking the information that you have research, you will apply the techniques or style to your own painting. The SUBJECT of your painting, which is the main focus of the information being presented on the canvas will convey your interpretation of the theme “freedom”. Freedom can be represented in many ways. Depending on the movement you choose, you can represent freedom in a literal sense, depicting imagery that shows someone experiencing freedom. Other movements are symbolic and emotional, where colours and imagery work together to represent a message or story. The composition or arrangement of the elements in your work is up to you and your creativity. Please see the rubric for the specific requirements that you must include. DO NOT google freedom and recreate an image from the internet. This is considered plagiarism and is illegal. This includes photography. The photo image belongs to creator, and therefore using their image is still plagiarism. You may use imagery as reference only, but anyone who is recreating an image from someone else’s work will not receive any marks. A hand out will be available to you as a guide with the movement characteristics and some visual examples. This painting is due the final day of classes, Wednesday January 28th and Thursday January 29th. If you need further time to work on your painting, please see Mrs. Rad to make arrangements for additional time.
