A special invitation for Community Groups
Your group is a vital part of our community and helps to ensure the long-term
wellbeing of Inishowen. We want to invite you to be part of Feel Good Fortnight this
summer.
What is Feel Good Fortnight?
Dates: Saturday 28 July - Saturday 11 August
Where: Inishowen, Co Donegal
Feel Good Fortnight is a time to share, celebrate and enjoy all that is good, healthy and
positive in our community. It is an opportunity for individuals, community groups and
business to organise events, projects and programmes to put a smile on everyone's face!
Feel Good Fortnight is powered by BCCS (Buncrana Community Combatting Suicide). This
group will provide a master schedule of events with promotion through local media, Social
Media (e.g. Facebook), posters, flyers and banners, YouTube videos and more.
Key Events / Projects




Intercultural Youth Day / Party in Swan’s Park on Saturday 28 July (organised by
Donegal Youth Service). 400+ young people taking part in a range of activities.
Random Acts of Kindness - an opportunity for little acts of kindness to brighten
someone’s day. (Contact [email protected] to find out more)
“Take it to the Streets” in Buncrana on Saturday 4 August (street theatre, street
music, street art, family fun and much more…)
Community Art projects - watch out for fun, surprising and unusual art projects and
installations that will appear throughout the fortnight.
Others are planning workshops, competitions, walks, sports tournaments, taster sessions,
tea parties, an ice cream party, art projects, exhibitions, displays and much more…

Why should my community group join Feel Good Fortnight?






Raise the profile of your group
Recruit new members (if appropriate)
Connect your group with a positive, uplifting and healthy project
Invest in the wellbeing of your community
Raise funds for your group (as appropriate)
Have fun!
What does it cost?
Nothing! Unless you decide to invest in your own event or activity. Feel free to raise funds
for your own group through whatever activity you choose to organise. Remember we will be
helping to promote your event or project on your behalf!
Ideas for Community Groups







Organise a special event (e.g. tea party, competition, fancy dress, community clean
up, art project, etc.)
Run a workshop, seminar or training event that promotes wellbeing in some way
Organise an outing, walk or sports tournament
Join in the Random Acts of Kindness project
Take part in the “Take it to the Streets” day in Buncrana on Saturday 4 August (you
might create a small market stall to sell crafts or other products to raise money for
your group, organise face painting, give out balloons, etc.)
Consider how you might join together with other community groups for a fun event or
fund raiser (e.g. Community Barbecue, Summer Fair, Talent Contest, etc.)
Think of any other creative, innovative, unusual or fun way to promote wellbeing in
our community and go for it!
