Access your Kaplan University issued Microsoft Gmail account by clicking on Gmail. 2. Click on the Drive tab at the top of your Gmail account. 3. Click on the Drive tab at the top of your Gmail account. Locate the Google Doc in your list under My Drive and right click on it. Page 1 of 6 4. Once the window opens, click on Download. 5. Google Docs identifies the Microsoft file type that most closely resembles the selected Google Doc. That Microsoft file type appears in the dropdown list next to Document (1). Click on Download. Page 2 of 6 6. At the File Download prompt, open the Google Doc as the selected Microsoft file. 7. Once the newly converted Microsoft file is open, proceed to work in the file or save it to a drive. Save a Microsoft document as a Google Doc To convert Microsoft documents such as Word and Excel documents to Google Docs, follow the steps below: 1. Access your Kaplan University issued Microsoft Google email (Gmail) account by clicking on Gmail. Page 3 of 6 2. Open an email in your inbox that contains a Microsoft file attached to it and click on View. 3. The Microsoft file will open in a Google window. In the upper right hand corner, click on Save in Google Docs. 4. Click on the Drive button at the top of your Gmail screen. 5. The new Google Doc is found in the list under My Drive. Page 4 of 6 Access Web Apps through the SkyDrive on a personal Microsoft email account Students may set up their own Microsoft email account and use the Web Apps found in the SkyDrive of that email account. To download the SkyDrive and access Web Apps, you need a Microsoft Windows account. If you do not have a Microsoft Windows account, please follow the steps below: Set up a Microsoft Live account 1. Go to office.live.com and click on the Sign up button. 2. After you are directed to the Microsoft Live account information page, fill in your information and create a Microsoft account name. 3. Once you have successfully set up your Microsoft Live account you will then be able to download the SkyDrive application storage space for your Office Web Apps. Click on the Download SkyDrive for your device link below at office.live.com, otherwise you will be automatically directed to download SkyDrive once you have successfully logged into your Microsoft Live account. Page 5 of 6 4. Proceed with your SkyDrive download. 5. Once the SkyDrive download is complete you will be directed to your SkyDrive storage space. Here you can create, share, and collaborate on Office files and store folders that can be accessed from any location. 6.
