The top graduates in the class of 2012 are Aissata Kourouma, Alex Dawkins and Andy Fuentes shown with Rotary Club president John Nolan. The students were praised for their strong work ethic, attention to detail and tenacity. All will be attending college in the fall. The Hamden Rotary Club honored Antonia Mauro as its May 2012 Student of the Month. The Shepherd Glen kindergarten student was accompanied by her team teachers Helen Morrissey and Lindsey O'Neil. They spoke about their young student in glowing terms, citing her good decision making, helpfulness and kindness. They brought along a life-size cutout of Antonia which was filled with quotes from her classmates such as "She includes everyone", "She always has a kind word", and "She makes you feel happy!" PASSING OF THE GAVEL SCHEDULED FOR JUNE 25TH….SAVE THE DATE!! We will be celebrating the 2011-2012 Rotary Year and Installing the 2012-2013 Directors and New President, Joena Russell. Again, this is usually a well-attended meeting, so plan to bring along a friend and your appetite!! More details to come…. We will have the privilege to host Hamden native A FRESH WAY TO START OUR MEETINGS and author, Norm Schriever. Norm’s recently published book, "Pushups in the Prayer Room” tells of his year-long adventure backpacking around the world. He speaks about life changing experiences As our membership continues to grow, the opening and closing of our meetings was discussed. It was suggested by many members that these activities be as non-secular as possible so to reflect the that will make you laugh, make you cry, and make you proud to be a Rotarian. This is a great night to bring your significant other, friend, colleague, or diversity of the club as well as not to offend or alienate any one or more groups or individuals. It was voted and approved by the board that in the prospective member! To read up on the book or to get a copy in advance (hard copy or ebook) at www.normshriever.com beginning of the meeting, the President will lead in the Pledge of Allegiance and then either ask for a moment of silence or recite something Rotary themed (The 4 Way Test, etc) And at the end of the meeting, there would be just the bell ringing. It was also voted on to end the routine of singing both in SKIFF ST CLEAN UP SLATED FOR JUNE 2ND!! the beginning and end of the meeting. We are looking forward to our yearly clean up day! Event will take place at 9 AM and we should be done by 11 AM. We are waiting for final details as to place and volunteer assignments so stay tuned for an email with an update before Friday night.
