Man hospitalized
Central Kitsap shooting incident
CENTRAL KITSAP, Wash. -- A 67-year-old man was arrested and booked into jail
earlier this afternoon following a shooting incident at a residence in the Central Kitsap
area outside the limits of the City of Bremerton.
The person who was shot, an adult male age 71, is now hospitalized. The two men
involved in this incident are known to each other.
Kitsap County Sheriff’s patrol deputies responded to a report of a shooting in the 2000
block of Chico Way NW that occurred just after 4 p.m. The victim had left prior to
deputies arriving. Deputies secured the scene and detained the 67-year-old man. He
subsequently was placed under arrest.
The man who sustained the gunshot injury drove to the Red Apple Market & Diner,
located on Kitsap Way in Bremerton, where deputies and a medic unit also responded.
The victim was transported to Harrison Medical Center, Bremerton, in serious condition.
Sheriff’s detectives are continuing the investigation to determine the reason for the
shooting. The suspect was booked into the Kitsap County Jail, around 5:50 p.m., on a
charge of assault, 1st degree. Bail was set at $500,000.
