What to Expect
Monday, our instructors may need to evaluate campers more to pl ace them into the best band based on their playing
experience, musical taste, and maturity. All placements are final and are not subject to change. Band mates work together
all week, learning to compromise, negotiate, and operate as a band. They have to learn to work with other musicians to
decide how to do everything from naming the band, choosing what style of music to play, and learning how to practice
effectively. As a parent, it is important that you emphasize the need for your musician to work as a team member.
One of the most valuable experiences for our campers is that they come to realize the challenges involved with
being in a band, as opposed to being a solo-performing artist. Please ask your camper to be patient as instructors work
to place your camper with the best band for their style and ability.
Page
Master Classes are one of the highlights of Camp Jam. We bring in music industry veterans to speak and field questions
about “the biz.” Past guests include Jeff Carlisi (founding member and lead guitarist for .38 Special), Liberty DeVitto (touring
drummer with Billy Joel and Stevie Nicks), Chuck Leavell (touring keyboardist for The Rolling Stones), Troy McLawhorn
(Evanescence and Dark New Day) and many, many more. We also invite bands, band managers, and popular local radio
personalities to speak to the musicians about their take on the music industry
Private lessons are available for an additional charge.
4
Musicians work through the Camp Jam program with their band. They spend several hours a day in rehearsal, practicing
both in an ensemble setting and on our stage. Bands also attend Specialty Classes, Seminars and the Master Class
together.
The week culminates in the Friday night concert. All the learning and practicing will be put on display for parents, friends,
and family on Friday night. The free concert begins Friday evening at 6pm. Camp Jam reserves to right to change the
time of the concert to better accommodate its musicians.
Overnight and Extended Day: Overnight and Extended Day campers follow the same rotation as day program campers.
However on Sunday night after check in they have dinner and move into their overnight rotation of classes and continue
those once the day program campers are dismissed daily Monday-Friday. A full curriculum of side project rehearsals,
live performance workshops, creating and filming a video and performing an open mic night are just a few of the
addition activities overnight and extended day campers will enjoy.

WHAT TO BRING GEAR CHECKLIST
YOU MUST BRING THIS FORM TO CAMP
All campers at Camp Jam are required to bring their own keyboard, stand, amplifier and cables to camp just
like a real rehearsal or gig. However, if you do not have your own gear Camp Jam offers a purchase option.
Gear purchased through Camp Jam is priced way below any store or online store price and will be shipped
directly to the camp facility.
.
Purchases can be made at the time of registration (suggested) or later by calling the Camp Jam office. All
transactions for purchases must be completed 14 business days of your camps start date. Failure to meet
the time frame above will cause any purchased gear to be shipped late and will not arrive in time for your
camp session. If this happens campers will not have the gear to participate in the program Camp Jam is not
responsible for gear that arrives late due to belated ordering. Please place your orders now or 14 business
days before the camp start date.
