Tim & Cindy Benson assisted in the food
distribution.
On March 22 at Woodstock Church, our mission
committee assisted Ric & Bobbie Brigman in
distributing food supplies to approx.50 needy
families (for a total of 208 people, of which 125
were children) in partnership with the Food4Kidz
program. The families were able to select from a
wide variety of meats, fresh produce, canned &
dry goods and breads. The program was hosted to
help children who did not get breakfast or lunch
while their schools were closed during spring
break. The committee also made a $300 donation
to Food4Kidz. Food4Kidz appreciates financial
support to pay for food products and cover
routine overhead such as rent, utilities and
transportation costs. Donations can be made on
the website at http://www.food4kidz.org or at the
mailing address: P.O. Box 7707, Panama City
Beach, FL 32413. For more info, please call
(850) 249-KIDZ (249-5439).

Friendliest Church On the Beach?
I can remember the only time we had sliced cooked deli ham in our fridge growing
up was when guests were coming over. We called them “company”. No matter
what we kids would find on those rare occasions, whether it was deli ham, potato
chips, or a lemon meringue pie, Mom would say, “Don’t touch that, it’s for company!” It wasn’t until I grew up that I realized that guests are treated extra special
because good hospitality is a Godly act and a sign of obedience to our Lord.
In the 19th chapter of Genesis, Lot invites two strangers to stay with him
and when the local men wanted to assault them, Lot was willing to give up his
family in exchange for their safety. Lot pleaded with the townsmen, “Please do not
do anything to these men because I am responsible for them.” Lot knew that being
a good host carries responsibility with it. In Leviticus 19:34a we are told, “You
shall treat the stranger who sojourns with you as a native among you, and you shall
love him as yourself.” Because there is so much Scripture directing us to treat
guests with love and honor, we are only obedient when we “roll out the red carpet”
as it were for those who visit the Beach or, more specifically, our church.
We have a core group of church members who attend Gulfview year
round but our church is located in one of the most desirable vacation spots in the
world. Naturally, there will be many folks who will want to spend time with us
temporarily. Some will stay for a week and some may stay for a whole winter. Regardless, God calls us to make them feel like everything we do is based on loving
them which is consistent with 1John 4:20a. “Whoever claims to love God yet hates
a brother or sister is a liar.” Obviously, our task is clear. We are to “go all out” in
treating our guests with as much love as we can possible muster.
With the summer months approaching, let us make every effort to make
our guests comfortable at Gulfview by: wearing our nametags, talking with our
guests before the service, offering a seat near you, smiling, talking with them after
the service, spending time with them in the Fellowship Hall or even inviting them
to lunch somewhere! This is not only really good for our church and our reputation
as the “Friendliest Church on the Beach”, but who knows, like we’re told in Hebrews 13:2, we might just be entertaining angels without knowing it! And to God
Be the Glory.

It's Lucky Penny Day.
When: Always on May 23rd
Perhaps a Lucky Penny will be lucky for you today.
Taken at face value, a penny doesn't buy you much, if
anything. It used to. During your parents and
grandparents days, a penny bought a lot of things.
Most notably, Penny Candy got its name because a
piece of candy cost a penny. Inflation year after year
after year, eroded the penny's value. There has even
been some discussion as to whether to discontinue the
penny....Heaven forbid!
The penny still serves a very useful purpose... at least
some of them are lucky pennies. Lucky pennies are
found on the ground. Not all of the pennies you find will
be lucky. But, it will only take one lucky penny used to
scratch off the mega winner on a scratch-off ticket.
Are you superstitious? Superstition has it that you
should only pick up a penny that is lying face up.
Here are some other uses for pennies:
 A penny for your thoughts.
 To put your "two cents" in.
 A necessity for penny pinchers
A handy screwdriver when nothing
else is available.
Thought for Today: "A penny for
your thoughts."
