PRESIDENT’S LETTER FOR JULY 2016 By Lisa Dalrymple, NCF IIA Chapter President Hello NCF Chapter Members, It’s July. It’s hot and humid and bleh. But on the bright side many of us go on vacation this month! Are you going on vacation this summer and need something to read? Check out the IIA Bookstore at https://bookstore.theiia.org/. If you have an unlimited data plan you could also check out the FREE members only Webinars offered by the IIA through the NCF IIA website at https://chapters.theiia.org/northcentral-florida/Pages/default.aspx. Go to the Quick Links box in the upper right of the screen, it is the last item on the list. July’s free webinar topics are the ‘Three Lines of Defense’ and FSA. I know you will all be reading and watching IIA materials on vacation, for fun. I hope everyone who attended the Cybersecurity CPE event at St. Leo June 16th found the subject as interesting as I did. Craig did a great job and provided very good information. We are working on our September program now. So watch this space for more information. JULY’S FUN FACTS: The Continental Congress declared independence on July 2, 1776, the first draft of the Declaration of Independence was completed in June 1776, the Declaration was signed on August 2, 1776, and it was delivered to Great Britain in November 1776. So what actually happened on July 4, 1776? That was when the final edits to the Declaration were approved, so the copy prepared for signatures was dated July 4, 1776. These fun facts and more can be found at the following website: http://www.constitutionfacts.com/us-declaration-of-independence/fourth-ofjuly/.
