Pro Osteon® 500R sterile blocks offer an
interconnected porosity similar to human
cancellous bone. The porous implants serve as a
matrix for new bone ingrowth with healing time
comparable to autogenous bone grafts. Since bone
graft harvesting is not required, patients are not
subjected to the trauma, blood loss and morbidity
of a second surgical procedure.
Pro Osteon® 500R sterile blocks also eliminate the
risk of disease transmission associated with
cadaver bone. Furthermore, Pro Osteon® 500R
blocks are manufactured under Biomet’s Quality
System ensuring the highest quality product.
Pro Osteon® Bone Graft Substitute (BGS) is shown
to be equivalent to autogenous bone graft in clinical
healing patterns of metaphyseal fracture defects.1
