MISSION: Our Parish Mission is just one week away.
The flyer in the bulletin this week is a color flyer and
done as a courtesy to all the surrounding the parishes
by the CDA in our Parish. This flyer has all the schedule information that you need.
Sign-ups for Adoration Hours continues on the tables
in the Church. We are asking everyone to sign in
when you come for you hour. Its always great to see
how many hours of prayer we offer to the Lord from
our Parish.
The Exhibition opens at 3:00 pm next Saturday. Tell
your Protestant Neighbors that they are welcome to
come on over and see what’s here. In fact, pick them
up and bring them along.
Evening Sessions: Anyone can come to the Evening
Sessions. Invite your friends and neighbors to come.
The chanting of the Psalms is quite inspirational. The
talks will appeal to anyone.
Stations of the Cross: On Fridays at 12:45 you can
come and pray them with the Grade School kids. On
Wednesdays, I lead them at 6:30 pm and then we
have confessions until 8:00 pm

Theology from the Faucet: We will meet for the second time Friday, March 24 in the KC Hall at 7:30 pm. The bar will be open and
we will have popcorn. The Flyer from last week told of the topic.
How do you talk about Morality in a relativistic world (a world that
has not objective right or wrong). We’ll have some table—small
group discussion and then some questions and response from Fr.
OK.
AdvanceEd: This week the AdvanceEd team will be here to do the
Accreditation Visitation with Cedar and Holy Trinity. I am really
happy to see our Grade School AdvanceEd Certified. It is a real
badge that says we have a great school and our kids are getting a
really good education.
St. Patrick’s Days Dispensation: In a very German County this Irish
motivated dispensation doesn’t have the same effect as if we were
a Spalding or O’Neill Nebraskan. Anyway, if you eat meat on Friday,
March 17 you need to give up meat on Thursday or Saturday.
Ahh, the GALA is soon to be here: On Saturday, March 25 the Saturday evening mass will be at 4:00 pm by special permission. There
will no confessions that day because there is a wedding at 2:00 pm.
Have you sold all your tickets? Let’s get that final push taken care
of and get those relatives in Omaha to buy some raffle tickets.
Money from Omaha is a good thing—quite spendable here in Hartington.
Supporting Vocations: When I was at St. Boniface in Elgin I got a
Vocation Committee started. They are still going and doing a great
job at raising an awareness in the hearts and minds of families on
the need to nurture religious vocations. I’d sure like to get one
started here. If there are some folks interested...contact me. It
might be something to get started since I am supposed to have a
seminarian with me this summer.
Totus Tuus: This summer program for Elementary and High School
youth will take place July 22-28. Registration will start soon. Mark
your calendars. The Elementary part takes place during the daytime. There is a Jr-High/HS section at night. We have one team
coming, so I need a home for two boys and a home for two girls.
Good Friday Collection: The Franciscans who work in the Holy
Land maintaining the Shrines, ministering to the pilgrims and taking
care of the few Catholic still remaining in the Holy Land need our
help. Parishes help out by taking up a collection on Good Friday.
WE will be doing this here and an envelope will appear in the bulletins the week before. I will be offering more information on the
need.
Stained Glass Information: Our church has approximately 400
square feet of window space. The cost of stained glass windows is
something no one is familiar with. But trying to compare apples to
apples, if you were to try to fill our windows with comparable art
glass windows like you see in older churches with the worth and
insurance value of those windows...you are talking $500-$700 per
sq. ft...depending on the studio you hire. My plan is to purchase
similar quality art glass windows that have been removed from another church...then we would have Kruse stained glass rework
them to fill our openings actually using some of our old glass. (con’t

Stained Glass con’t: Now as we work on the project and make decisions I will consult with the Pastoral Council and the Finance Committee. I believe
we can do justice to our church in a cost range
that is doable. The amount quoted is for new art
glass. Antique art glass complementing our church
and providing beauty for generations is very doable. I am so grateful to Kruse’s Stained Glass being so close and so good, we will accomplish this
project with skill and artistry. My first challenge
was to find windows that would fit (dimensions)
and have topics that are core faith messages and
that will add beauty to our church. This is a slow
process—its not like going to a car lot and picking
out a car. Stay tuned.
