To: Energy-‐Matter -‐-‐-‐Management Of Personal Energy And Matter

To: Energy-‐Matter -‐-‐-‐Management Of Personal Energy And Matter Project From: CEO In the United States today, many health authorities are extremely worried about the personal energy and matter management of our citizenry today. Far too many people are overweight; an extraordinary number of Americans are clinically classified as obese. Just this energy management matter alone is likely to cause soaring increases in medical costs nationwide over this 21st century. It is more than likely to put nearly unbearable strains of the medical system in terms providing relief and care from the ramifications of this energy and matter management problem. In addition to obesity, there is a host of other diet related energy and matter related problems that add up to a crisis for American life to be played out over the 21st century. Better personal energy and matter management is needed. In this Management of Personal Energy and Matter Project, teams will be provided a personal profile of person needing help and a plan. Teams must develop a personalized plan for this individual and a pathway to reach a personal health goal. The plan and pathway to achieve the goal must be detailed, realistic, attainable, time sensitive, and most importantly, based on Science. To accomplish this challenge, teams must undertake considerable learning about energy, matter, diet and exercise. Teams must begin by accomplishing the learning needed to undertake planning and development in this project. Teams must deliver evidence that they have thoroughly studied and learned from all the content found in MPEMP Tutorial #1. Evidence for learning must also be presented in written abstract form for all three tutorials, including MPEMP Tutorial #2 and MPEMP Tutorial #3 (See deliverables timeline below). Thereafter, teams may begin planning. Basing plans on thoroughly understanding the science involving anabolism and catabolism, teams may begin hypothesizing ideas on manipulating energy in-‐and energy out. The subject’s BMR must be calculated in first order to proceed. The numbers and units used to describe matter and energy are very important in this project. Mass and energy units must be described and presented always in both standard and metric forms. Plans must address the personal energy and matter problems and achieve the personal goal in the personal profile. A presentation argument must be developed to make claims, to show evidence (numbers), and to warrant the viability of the developed plan. This argument must clearly and extensively show the numbers and calculations arrived at as a basis for the plan. Teams will explain their assigned personal profile and their plan in a creative, cogent, and compelling exposition at POL. Each team is wished the best in this Management of Personal Energy and Matter Project. Good luck. Go get ‘em!
