Our waters contain:
Carp to 30Ib+ , double figure Pike, Tench,
Bream and Barbel. Chub to 5Ib+, Crucians,
Roach and Perch to 3Ib+.
MATCH weights to 671b and plenty of 100lb +

New Coarse Fishery at Hurston Lane,
Storrington
In November, 1996 The Hampshire a nd Sussex Ang lers Allian ce we re
awarded a Lottery Sports Fund Award of 00,000 to hel p pnrc hase and develop
a di sused tront fi shing complex at Hurston Lane, Stonington, West Sussex.
The site was finally acquired in April 1997 and the aim of the Hampshire and
Snssex Alliance was to create three ponds of differing sizes to cater for coarse
anglin g requirements.
The first. pond in the complex, known as tbe Tench Pond, is a general purpose
fishery. Thi s pond has been stocked with tench, crucian carp and rudd and there
is a small head of common carp. Along one bank of this pond and adjacent to
the carp park an area has been created and reserved for disabled anglers.
The middle pond is speeiajist earp waler with fi sh np to 20lb in weight. Night
fishing is allowed on this pond for the enthn sias ti c carp angler.
A 24 peg elub malch fi shery ha s been constillcted from the top pond and is
a... ailable for competiti ons. Thi s pond is stocked with rudd, bream, carp and
perch.
The picturesque site covers some 4.5 acres and is bonnded on one side by the
rio.y River StOlT. The ponds are spring fed and the fi sh are healthy and grow
well.
On the last Saturday in September the site was officially opened by we ll
known broadcaster and amhor Bob James.
The Executive Committee of the Hampshire and Sussex A ngl ers Alliance
both acknowledge and thank Sporr England (lotte ry Fund) for th ei r ve ry
generous assistance in helping them pW'cha se and develop thi s fishery for the
benefit of coarse anglers.

Wingham carp record broken
The lake carp record was broken at Wingham uear Canterbwy by a new
member who was fi shing the wa ter to r the first time. Fi shing with baBie s
Steve Sh0i1 landed the e ight year o ld fi sh at 30lb 12oz.
Fis hery boss Steve Burke commented "There are even bigger ones whieh
haven't been eaught" .
