Course Description
This course introduces multicultural studies through the investigation of the physical and human geography, history, and
cultures of the continents of Asia, Africa, Oceania, and Australia. Through this course students will develop an
understanding of the interactions between geography and culture that have influenced the lifestyles and challenges faced
by various culture groups throughout these regions. This u nderstanding will help students gain a greater understanding of
their own culture and a realization of how diverse cultural traditions affect their lives and will encourage them to actively
participate in the culturally diverse world in which they live.
Course Objectives
The objectives are listed individually in each lesson, but the ultimate goal is that, by the end of the course, you will know
and use these facts, concepts, principles and theories, and models to better understand the people and culture of the
countries of Africa, Asia, Australia, and Oceania.
