APPLYING FOR SHIPPING EXEMPTION
The Australian Grape and Wine Authority Regulations allow for specific exemptions to the general conditions of export under legislated
circumstances. Shipments over 100 litres require an Export Permit, however, exporters are exempt from the requirement to be licensed
and obtain product approval when one of the following conditions are met:

Shipments under 100 litres - defined as a consignment made up of 1 exporter, or 1 or more related exporters; on 1 ship or
aircraft; to a single port of discharge; whether or not to 1 consignee;
Contained in the personal luggage of a traveller;
For the household of an individual who is moving house;
For display at a trade fair or comparable event;
For a scientific or technical purpose;
For diplomatic or consular establishments as part of the duty-free allowance of the establishment;
For victualling supplies that are held on board a means of international transport;
Commercial samples for a prospective buyer.
Exporter Details
Exporter Name & Address: The name of the entity who has responsibility for the export of the consignment.
Consignee & Shipping Agent Details
Consignee Name & Address: The person/company in the overseas destination to whom the goods are consigned. The
consignee full name and address is required.
Shipping Agent Name & Address: The person/company coordinating the shipment of the goods. The shipping agent
full name and address is required.
Shipment Details
Est. Departure Date: The estimated date for the departure of the vessel or aircraft from the port of loading.
Port of Loading: The port or airport where the consignment is to be loaded onto the vessel or aircraft.
Port of Destination: The last port or airport where the consignment is to be unloaded from the vessel or aircraft.
Transportation Method: If the method of transport is by sea, this must include the name of the vessel and voyage
number. In case of air, this must include the name of the airline and flight number (if available).
Final Destination (Country): The country where the wine will be marketed. For USA and Canada, please specify the
State/Province.

Exemption Declaration
Reason For Exemption: The reason for exemption must meet one of the legislated criteria. Select the reason from the
drop-down box. If the purpose of the shipment does not meet one of the criteria, select Other. A detailed explanation
will be required and this will be assessed by the Australian Grape and Wine Authority.
Provide Further Details: Outline the details of the shipment in the text field to support your application for an exemption.
Is The Wine For Re-Sale: If the wine is intended for re-sale in the country of destination select Yes from the drop-down
box. If the wine is not intended for re-sale select No.
Is This a Commercial Transaction: If a commercial transaction will take place select Yes from the drop-down box.
Select No if no commercial transaction will take place (ie, the wine is being exported at zero commercial value).
Are VI1's Required: Exporters will need to check this with their EU agent, however, the product must obtain EU export
approval in order for the Authority to provide VI1 Certificates.

How Is The Wine Labelled: Which market has the label been designed for, eg, domestic market or an export market. If
labels are not compliant with requirements of the destination market, the bottles should be overstickered with
"Sample Only - Not For Resale". If exporting to the USA, the Government Warning is required, regardless of purpose.
Declaration
Declaration: The exporter or their authorised representative must complete the declaration. By signing the declaration,
the exporter declares that the matters declared on the application are true.
Shipment Items
Full Label Description: Must include the brand name and any vintage or grape variety claimed on the label.
No. of Cartons: The number of cartons for that product in the consignment.
Items per Carton & Pack Size: The number of units in each carton and the unit size (in mL) for that product.
Total Litres: The total volume of that product in litres.
Total FOB (AUD): The total free-on-board value for that product. It includes the sales value of the goods and the
associated costs of placing the goods on the vessel. It excludes any insurance costs.
