Principal’s Corner
Orange Charter Families,
I hope everyone is fully back in the swing of school routines as we head towards February!
Registration for the 2015-2016 school year is off to a typically strong start. If you have not done so already, please reserve your
child’s spot for next year by submitting an Intent to Return Form no later than this Friday, January 30th. Also, thank you for being
such tremendous ambassadors for our school. We have encountered many of your friends and neighbors at prospective parent tours and
a recent open house event. Sixth grade followed by Kindergarten are the most likely entry points to our school. All new student
applications are due by Friday, February 13th.
Here are some important calendar reminders to help your family plan ahead:
1. Next Wednesday, February 4th is an Early Release Day. Staff members will be participating in a follow-up session on
Project-Based Learning. Students will be dismissed promptly at 11:30 AM. There is after-school care available for those who
are signed up. Contact After-School Director Vicky Wilson ([email protected]) for further info.
2.
A Strings Solo Concert will be held on Tuesday, February 10th starting at 5:30 PM in the gym.
3.
Thursday, February 26th will be the make-up day for our weather-related closure on Wednesday, January 14th.
4.
Friday, February 27th is a Teacher Workday. There is no school for students. Staff members will be participating in an
arts integration workshop sponsored by the Southeast Center for Arts Integration.

Lost & Found
The OCS lost and found is running over! If your student is missing an article of clothing or a lunch box it is likely to be in the
enormous pile located in the front office.
Come by and check it out!
Letter of Intent
All families should have received a letter of intent for the 2015-16 school year. The completed letters are due in the office no later
than January 30. If you haven’t received a letter please contact Ms. Tracey.
Sibling applications are due January 30 as well.

PATH needs your help! It is our big spring term and we are gearing up for a fun Spring Fling and auction, but we can’t
pull it off without lots of hands and help! Please join us at OCS Cafeteria on Tuesday Feb 3 from 630-730pm! We had a
great event last year and raised $6k for OCS, please come and help us ensure we can take on this event again this year
and make it bigger and better than ever!
