8TH GRADE YEARBOOK ADS
Yearbook recognition ads are a great way for parents, families and friends to recognize student
achievements and important milestones. In addition, revenues from recognition ads help our school to
create a better yearbook. To purchase your ad online, follow the instructions below. Balfour Publishing
is managing your school's yearbook ad sales so please do not contact or send materials to the school.
Please take into account our school's dress code and ad content guidelines (below) during the creation
of your ad online. All ad orders must be placed online by March 20, 2017.

Important Notes About Ads:
 Although we will make every effort to use your layout and text as indicated, we retain the right to
remove any explicit text, graphic photos or copyright-protected imagery or photos.
 For the ad to appear in the yearbook, your ad must be created and purchased ONLINE by using Balfour's
Ad Creator.
 A proof will not be provided and no changes can be made after purchase.

Only a few pages are reserved for Ads so it will be
on a first come, first serve basis for space.
Creating Your Yearbook Ad Online
Thank you for your support of this year’s yearbook! We’re pleased to announce that we have enhanced an
EASY solution to buying and creating a Yearbook ad.
Starting Your Ad
1. Point your web browser to balfour.com
5. You must Create an account to
begin building your ad. Creating an
account with your name, email and
password is needed to track your ad,
save it for future sessions, and for the
checkout process. Be assured that your
info won’t be used for anything other
than logging into this site).
Designing Your Ad
You can save your ad at any time and return
to complete it in another session.
9. Select an Ad Template from the list
of templates. All ad sizes have multiple
templates - select the one with the
number of image boxes and caption
boxes that best suits your needs.
2. Click on Yearbooks.
3. Select K-12 or College and type the
name of your school. This will take you
to our school’s Marketplace.
If you have already created an account on
balfour.com enter your e-mail address and
password in the text boxes and click Login.
6. From the menu on the left, click Your
Yearbook and reselect the size of the
ad you would like to purchase.
4. Click on the size of ad you would like
to purchase (you can also purchase a
yearbook in the same session).
Each ad size has a single-image
template (see below). Use this if you’ve
created your ad in a graphics editing
program like Adobe PhotoshopTM.
7. Before you begin creating your ad,
you need to name it. Hint: Use your
Student’s First and Last Name.
8. Click Create New Ad.

10. Next, add pictures to your gallery by
clicking on the Add Photos to Gallery
button.
12. After placing an image, Click on the
photo to bring up an Editing Tool Bar.
The buttons allow you to move a photo,
zoom in or out, and replace a photo.
(see Below).
14. When all images and text areas
are complete, you can also change
the background color. Simply click the
white color block and Select a new
color.

A new window will open to upload
images. Click the Select Files button,
and then select your photos.
You can upload multiple pictures by
holding the Ctrl or Shift key. Click the
Upload button once you have selected
your photos.
Move
If an image becomes too small you will
see a Yellow warning
that the
image might look grainy when you print.
If you see a Red warning,
your
picture should not be used as it does
not meet the print specifications.
13. Once your images are the way you
want them, you’re ready to add text.
Click on a text area and begin typing.
300 DPI at full size and less than 8 MB (per
image). Images in JPG, JPEG or PNG
formats are suitable for use (cell phone
images are typically too small to reproduce
11. To insert an image into an image
frame, simply click the Insert a Photo
area, select your photo from the
Pop-Up window, & click Insert Photo.
After saving your ad, you can:
View Proof - Click this button to view a
larger proof of your ad in a JPEG format.
To save the JPEG of your ad, right click and
select Save Image As. It can now be sent
to your computer’s printer, saved or emailed.
The final print version of your ad and images
will be high-resolution.
For best results, images should be at least

Finishing Up
You can edit the style of the text by
selecting from the predetermined fonts,
size, color, or alignment.
Add to Cart - Click this button to add
your ad to your shopping cart. From the
Shopping Cart page, you can choose
to checkout, or continue shopping for
other items (yearbook add-ons) before
checking out.
