Learn how to make a
mini catapult at
home!
You will need: 10 craft sticks/popsicle sticks, four rubber bands, craft
paint, a foam paintbrush, one bottle cap, a hot glue gun, “ammo”
(marshmallows/pom-poms),
Paint all the craft sticks;
they can be the same color or different colors. Let the paint dry
completely.
Program Details:
Frank Shade will share the history of the
Sussex County phenomenon known as
Punkin Chunkin. He and Jake Burton
(2012 World Champion) will shoot
“surprises” out of 2 smaller versions of
popular-style Punkin Chunkin machines.
(Hands on workshop begins at 4:00pm,
Frank will speak at 4:30pm)
Ideal for kids of all ages who
are interested in Punkin
Chunkin!
Attach Two Pieces for the Base
Once the paint is dry, rubber-band two sticks together at one end, then
set aside
Make the Cross Piece/Wing
Stack the remaining eight sticks and rubber band them together at both
ends.
Connect
Slide the stack of eight sticks in between the two sticks that you already
banded together.
Make an X at the Center
Use the fourth rubber band to secure all of the craft sticks together.
Attach “Ammo” Holder
Use a hot glue gun to secure a bottle cap to the end of the catapult. This
is a perfect little spot to set your marshmallow or small pom-pom.
