In late Dynasty Five King Unis began constructing his funerary monument,
including a passage-like causeway connecting his valley temple and
mortuary temple. This royal project took precedence over the building
plans the King’s subjects in the area and a number of privately owned
tombs were abandoned or destroyed to make way for the Unis Causeway.
The lecture will start with an overview then focus on the two westernmost
tombs and fieldwork by the Oxford Expedition to Egypt.
