members full access to our facility, including the pools and
free member classes, at no charge. Reciprocal members
pay the non-member rate for classes and programs that

SWIM LESSONS
Summer swim lessons run a weekly schedule in a 30 minute group lesson format with 10 minutes of
instructional free time. Lessons are every day, Monday - Friday, for the week the child is registered.
Minimum 3, maximum 6 children for each class; registration deadline is the Friday prior by 2pm.
Weekly sessions will run June 26-June 30 and July 10 - August 25.

PIKE & EEL: Ages 3-5 years
10:35-11:15am in the Therapy Pool
Pike is the introductory level for new swimmers to
learn basic paddle stroke and kicking skills, pool safety
and comfort holding their faces in the water while
blowing bubbles and swimming.
Eel is the advanced beginner level. Children are taught
the flutter kick, kneeling dives, floating, treading, and
the progressive paddle stroke. Successful completion
of this level is to swim 12 yards, jump, tread and float
without assistance.
RAY & STARFISH: Ages 3-5 years
11:20am-12pm in the Therapy Pool
Ray swimmers will improve stroke skills such as rotary
breathing, paddling on the front, back and side, build
endurance by developing formal freestyle & backstroke
skills and treading water for 30 seconds. Successful
completion of this level is to paddle on front and back
without assistance for 25 yards.
Starfish is the level for the advanced preschool
swimmer. Skills include freestyle with rotary breathing,
backstroke, introduction to breaststroke and butterfly.
Successful completion of this level is to swim the
length of the pool and back without assistance.
POLLIWOG & GUPPY: Ages 6-12 years
9:45-10:25am in the Emery Pool
Polliwog is the beginning level for school-aged
children. Children are taught the flutter kick, kneeling
dives, floating, treading, and the progressive paddle
stroke. Successful completion of this level is to swim
12 yards, jump, tread and float without assistance.
Guppy swimmers will improve stroke skills such as
rotary breathing, paddling on the front, back and

SWIM LESSONS
PARENT/CHILD SWIM: Ages 6 months-2 years
Tuesdays, 9-9:40am in the Therapy Pool
July 11 - August 22 (7 week session)
Our parent/child swim class will run for seven weeks on
Tuesdays at 9am. This class is designed to allow the
child to have fun in the water while the parent guides
the child through developmentally appropriate water
adjustment skills with instructor support.

ARE YOU WHISTLE WORTHY?
American Red Cross Lifeguard Course
On-Site Training Location: Boothbay Region YMCA
Dates: June 17-18 & June 24-25 (both weekends required)
Times: 8am-5pm with lunch breaks
Course Fees: $100.00 - BRYMCA Course Registration Fee
$35.00 - American Red Cross Certification Fee
Join the Boothbay Region YMCA aquatics staff and learn
the lifesaving skills needed to be an American Red Cross
certified lifeguard. You will learn teamwork, rescue and
surveillance skills, First Aid and CPR/AED, and other skills
needed to work as a professional lifeguard.

GROUP EXERCISE
Find your motivation and discover your potential by working out in our group
exercise classes. All classes are free for members!

A combination of Pilates & Yoga for
balance, strength & stretch.
SENIORS IN MOTION
A variety of cardio, weights, flexibility
and balance led at a supportive pace.

Slower-paced combination of Pilates and
yoga with emphasis on stretching.

FREE ORIENTATIONS FOR NEW MEMBERS
As a new member, your free fitness center orientation provides you with an opportunity to become comfortable
in the Boothbay Region YMCA. During your orientation, we will guide you through our cardio and strength
machines, as well as our fitness programs and resources. We will also discuss your interests and goals to get

This free drop-in service for YMCA members is provided in partnership with
LincolnHealth. On Wednesday mornings, Dr. Jen Wolfe, PT, DPT, is available to answer
any questions you may have concerning your health and wellness. Jen can provide
screenings for muscular skeletal injuries, chronic aches and pains, modifications for
exercises to account for previous injury or surgery, and instruction in safe form &
alignment.

SQUASH & RACQUETBALL
We have two courts to play racquetball, squash, and
walleyball! Call the Y at 633-2855 to reserve a court.

PICKLEBALL
Pickleball, one of the fastest-growing sports in the
US, combines elements of badminton, tennis, and
ping-pong. It is played with a graphite, composite, or
wood paddle and a perforated plastic ball on a court
about half the size of a tennis court.
The YMCA has two pickleball courts on Court 2 in the
Field House. The rates below apply to non-program
times.

FIT KIDZ
IGNITE YOUR CHILD’S POTENTIAL IN THE
YMCA’S FIT KIDZ AFTERSCHOOL PROGRAM
Fit Kidz is an after school and vacation day enrichment
program that supports working families and fosters
each child’s cognitive, social and physical development.
We offer experiences that teach belonging and we
provide a healthy and stimulating environment.
A healthy afterschool snack is provided daily and we
cook our own snacks, also.
Fit Kidz swim in the Y’s pools and use the Y’s field
house and track for physical activity.
We accept students in Kindergarten to 5th grade.
Our program runs from dismissal to 5:00 on school
days, and from 7:30-5:00 on non-school days.
We escort children to other afterschool Y enrichment
programs.

Saturday, July 22nd, 9am-5pm
While Parkinson’s Disease (PD) can be debilitating, there is
plenty of compelling data to show that exercise is one of
the best ways of managing PD symptoms. Studies show
that regular exercise can improve gait, grip, balance,
stability, strength, and motor control in the PD client.
This training, led by Karl Sterling, CEO of PhysioChains
Education and a NASM Master Trainer, is geared towards
personal trainers & fitness professionals; in past
workshops offered on this topic, individuals with PD and
their caregivers who chose to participate also found it
beneficial & we warmly welcome them to attend. Contact

MEALS FOR YOUTH
Did you know that 6 out of 7 kids who are
eligible for free or reduced price lunch
during the school year do not get summer
meals? To address food insecurity during
the summer months in our community, we
partner with Healthy Lincoln County to
provide free, nutritious meals for any child
or teen age 18 and under through the USDA
Summer Food Service Program. Meals are
served Monday - Friday, from
June 26 - August 25.

YMCA GOLF TOURNAMENT
ROCKY COAST ROAD RACE
THURSDAY, JUNE 15, 1PM SHOTGUN START
SATURDAY, JULY 1, 8AM
All proceeds support scholarships for local
children to attend YMCA Camp Knickerbocker this
summer. The 2017 Golf Tournament will be held at
the Boothbay Harbor Country Club on Thursday,
June 15 with a 1pm shotgun start.
Registration is open for the 37th Annual Rocky Coast
Road Race 10k Run, 5k Run and 5k Walk. The Rocky
Coast Road Race helps to raise money to support the
Y’s healthy living outreach programs such as
