March 10, 2014 Sierra View School 1598 Hooker Oak Ave. Debbie Aldred, Principal (530) 891-3117 Chico, CA 95926 www.chicousd.org Attendance # - (530) 891-3117 ext. 102 Absence Make-Up Day Aldred States Bullying: What to do as a Bystander If a bullying situation is going on, often times the other students are very aware of it before adults are. Being a bystander gives the impression to the bully that others support his/her behavior. Ignoring bullying behavior won’t make it go away. It is important to educate our students about their roll when they see a bullying situation. Below are suggestions on what to do and not do: Do: Persuade the victim to tell an adult. If they refuse, offer to tell an adult for them. Stand up to the bully. Tell him/her that you do not approve of the behavior and that you are on the side of the victim. Don’t: Don’t use violence. You may end up being blamed for being a bully yourself. Don’t try to handle the situation yourself. Get help from an adult. (The Parent Institute-2010) If your child missed school in the second trimester, you have the opportunity to make up the absence on Monday, March 17th from 8am to noon. Please sign and return the permission slip sent to you in the mail. Leave Them BEE! It’s almost spring, and the bees are buzzing outside. Remind children to leave them alone.
