Sharing our
learning journey
Adaptability
• I know about a range of views, cultures and traditions.
How does this
photograph link in
with knowing
about a range of
views, cultures
and traditions?
Adaptability
• I can approach tasks with confidence.
This was our first
time being a DJ.
We were able to
choose music for
our games and
stop and start it
when we needed
to.
It was a new skill
for us.
In the EY class, we learn to be
adaptable.
For some of us, it is the first
time we have been away from
our families so everything is
new to us. Sometimes it is nice
to meet new friends and
teachers and to try new
activities and play with new
toys. But sometimes it is
frightening and with help, we
learn to be adaptable.
Ahmed the
adaptable
chameleon
helps us learn
to cope with
change.
I am trying
something new. I
have never eaten
Scottish food
before. Because I
am happy to try
something new, I
am showing I am
adaptable.
Co-operation
Co-operation- I can work together
with others in a group.
MP1 were able to work
together to make healthy
snacks.
What did you think of our
snacks?
The EY Class know how to cooperate
We are
learning
together.
Like Colin our
cooperative
ant, we are
working
together to
make it easier.
Communication:
I can use a variety of tools and techniques to aid my communication.
What do
you think
I am
doing?
EY love to read and listen to
stories.
Communication
I can make
myself clear to
to others
Communication
I can communicate in more than one
spoken language.
We are
learning
Arabic.
CommunicationI can communicate in more
than one language.
I can
speak in
Korean
and
English.
Communication
I go to Dutch lessons so I won’t
forget my Dutch because I speak
so much in English. I learn new
words, how to spell them and how
to use them in sentences. I learn a
lot of spelling patterns.
I also learn about the Dutch
Culture.
I learn new and difficult
Dutch words. I like
listening to Dutch
stories and learn new
words from it.
I can communicate in more than one language. We are learning
to speak French.
In MP1 French, we are
learning to count to 20
MP2 are learning all
about food and drink
in French.
In French, we are
working together to
learn all about food
and drink.
To make their healthy snack MP2
needed to work closely together
What Personal Goals do
you think they needed to
be successful?
Look at the EY children communicating!
In our Travel Agents we
are speaking, listening and
writing. These are all
ways of communicating.
Can you think of any
more?
Cory our communicative monkey
helps us remember how we
communicate with one another.
MP2 and MP3 learning partners.
We used our skills of communication,
co operation and enquiry to learn from
MP3 about how to write newspaper
reports. MP3 shared their learning
advise with us and we learned from
their experiences.
What personal
goals do you think
we needed for this
learning activity?
Learning together with the
help of the personal goals?
How would our
communication skills have
helped with this learning?
Who used their
skills of enquiry?
In early years we are learning to ask
questions which will help us to learn.
Enya our
enquiring owl
helps us to
remember
that asking
good
questions
helps us to
learn.
‘Will it float or will it
sink?’
‘How can I make
something which is
floating sink?
„What is this?’
‘What sound does it
make?’
‘Are they any others
which are the same?’
Early Years children asking
questions…
What shape is this?
How much is the train ticket?
How long is the
train track?
How can we make more
bubbles?
How many passengers can fit?
Which personal goal is this?

What is thoughtfulness?
• thought ful·ness n.
• Synonyms: thoughtful, considerate, attentive, solicitous
These adjectives mean having or showing concern for the
well-being of others. Although thoughtful and considerate are
often used interchangeably, thoughtful implies a tendency to
anticipate needs or wishes.
• Can it mean anything else? Tell your teacher.
Have you been thoughtful
today ?
•How are your thinking skills
today?
I am using my senses to think
about what I am touching
International Mindedness – learning
about the culture of our host country Oman and our home
countries.
Exploring Russian food
Making Italian pizza
Preparing Indian food
Learning about Scottish food
Tasting food from Kazakhstan
Knowledge
Francesco: “What‟s this?”
Callum: “Are these banana
trees?”
When we explore the world
around us, we learn so much
new information!
Skills
When I learn a
new skill, I need
to practice and
practice. I need
to be resilient like
the turtle.
Reflection
We are all being
Thoughtful!
My friends can
help me to reflect
on my learning.
They can tell me
what they like and
can give me ideas
about how I can
make it better next
time.
I‟m using my communication
skills too!
I am explaining my
learning to my
teacher. She will
help me to find out if I
met my learning
target and will tell me
what I will learn next.
Understanding
By living in Oman, by listening to stories
from Omani people, by learning the language,
songs, dances etc we now have a
greater understanding of Omani culture
and traditions.
Entry Point –this is our hook to make us interested in our
new learning! We have great fun at our entry point activities.
Going Places
Clothes
Food
Knowledge Harvest
We went to the club for
our Knowledge Harvest.

Great cooperation!
MP1 organised a
fantastic party
for the EY class.
This allowed
them to put together
all the knowledge
and skills from the
unit together.
They now
understand what
makes a party
successful.
Skills
Fantastic Communication!
I am teaching the
nursery children a party
game. If we practice it,
then they will be able to
play it by themselves.
All About Learning
• I take in information in different ways.
• Am I a visual learner?
• Am I an auditory learner?
• Am I a kinaesthetic learner?
• I record and present my learning in different ways
VAK
• How are we learning this new dance?
Do others
like to learn
in the same
way?
Is this
the best
way for
me to
learn a
dance?
Different kinds of smart
MP3 learned
that there
are many
different
intelligences
(smarts). They
tried different
learning
activities to see
if they could
find out
which they
preferred.
