Welcome in the airport of Paris. Reception and
transfer to the hotel.
I.N.J.S. Saint Jacques
The I.N.J.S. of Paris was founded in 1791 to welcome pupils
of a benefactor educator, the Abbé de l’Epée. This last
created the first French school intended for deaf children
and codified the language of the signs.

Jardin de Luxembourg
It is without contest the park more popular for Parisians since long time: its 29
hectares of greenery are decorated by water’s parts and covered by splendid trees.
A veritable French garden, adjacent to the Palace of Senate.
A masterpiece of Gothic architecture, the construction
of Notre-Dame began in the 12th century and took 200
years. By going up to see the towers and the
legendary great bell, you will be following in the
footsteps of Victor Hugo’s characters among the
strange gargoyles. At the top of the south tower, a
fabulous panorama over Paris awaits you.
Hotel-de-Ville (City Hall of Paris 1er)
It floats, but does not sink. It is the famous motto
which decorates the blazon of Paris. The building,
burnt in 1871, was rebuilt between 1874 and 1882. It
is the siege of the City Hall of Paris. The place of the
Hotel de Ville is the ancient place de Grève, where
were practiced many capital executions.
Centre Pompidou
The gigantic building is in oneself a revolutionary
attraction. Created on the initiative of the former
president of the French Republic Georges Pompidou,
it takes in the National Museum of Modern Art but
also an interesting library and many temporary
exhibitions.
Pantheon
In the centre of the Latin Quarter, near the
Luxembourg gardens, stands the Pantheon. A church
until 1791, it was transformed into a Republican
temple to honor the memory of the nation’s
illustrious figures: Voltaire, Rousseau, Zola, Dumas,
Hugo or Pierre and Marie Curie.

Thermes and Hotel de Cluny
The enclosure of the hotel protects vestiges of GalloRoman thermal baths: three big rooms decorated by
superb mosaics. The Hotel de Cluny, one of the most
beautiful monuments of the Middle Ages, took in the
prelates of Cluny’s Burgundian abbey. It is surrounded
by a garden of medieval inspiration.
Quartier Latin
It is around the university of the Sorbonne, founded in 1257, that the district of
students and universities developed, but also bookstores, shops of crumple and
restaurants of the whole world, etc.

Palais Bourbon (National Assembly)
The duchess Louise-Françoise de Bourbon, legitimate daughter of Louis XIV, made
build the palace which bears her name today. The
Revolution confiscated it with the prince de Condé
who had acquired it in 1764, to establish there a few
years later the Council of the Five hundreds. Today it
is the siege of the National Assembly.
Museum Orsay
The ancient station of Orsay was built by Laloux in
1900 for the Universal exhibition. Become the large

museum of the 19 century, you can admire
prestigious works such as large impressionist
paintings of Renoir, Monet and well of others still.
Palais de la Cité (Law Courts of Paris)
In the middle of the French capital, the Ile de la Cité takes in the first palace of kings
of France in Paris. From this sumptuous residence, two exceptional monuments so
much by its architecture that by its history remain today: the Conciergerie and the
Sainte-Chapelle.
Conciergerie
In the heart of the Ile de la Cité, visit the magnificent Gothic halls of the first
residence of the kings of France, built in the 14th century by Philippe le Bel (Philip
the Fair). Partially converted into a prison in the 15th century, the Conciergerie
takes you back to the revolutionary period through its prison cells, including that of
Marie-Antoinette.

The Hôtel-Dieu de Paris is the oldest and was the only
hospital of the French capital until the Renaissance.
Founded in 651 by the Parisian bishop saint Landry, it
was symbol of the charity of hospitality. The HôtelDieu is built from 7th to 17th century on left bank of
the Ile de la Cité, in the south of the Parvis NotreDame de Paris. Current Constructions taking in the hospital date from the 19th
century.
Hotel des Invalides
Created by Louis XIV, this institution was intended to
help the wounded or handicapped soldiers often
reduced to the begging. The Dome shines of 550.000
gold sheets and takes in the chapel where lie ashes of
Napoleon 1st, protected by a sarcophagus made up of
six coffins of iron, lead and precious wood.

Eiffel Tower
The Eiffel Tower was built by Gustave Eiffel for the Universal
exhibition in 1889, celebrating the hundredth anniversary of
the French Revolution. Erected in record time 2 years, 2
months and 5 days, it was an immediate success. Today, it is
the symbol of France throughout the world and has over 7
million visitors per year. An exceptional panoramic view to
admire all of Paris from the 2nd floor of the famous Iron Lady!

Louvre
Located in the heart of Paris, the Louvre, formerly a
royal palace, has become one of the world’s largest
museums. It is packed with masterpieces from
different periods: Ancient Egypt, the Middle Ages, the
Renaissance, etc. Among the museum’s most famous
works: Leonardo de Vinci’s Mona Lisa, the Venus de
Milo, the Winged Victory of Samothrace, etc. You will also discover the impressive
Louvre Pyramid made of glass and metal.
Free lunch. Continuation of visit until the garden of Tuileries for a
beautiful walk until the Place de la Concorde:
Realized in 1748 to accommodate the equestrian
statue of the king, the place Louis XV was renamed
place de la Revolution in 1792. The statue was
unbolted and, during the Terror, more than thousand
heads fell here (of which those of Louis XVI, MarieAntoinette and Robespierre).
Arc de Triomphe de l’Etoile
Construction of the Arc de Triomphe began in 1806, at the behest of Napoleon 1st,
in honor of the Grande Armée and was completed under Louis Philippe. Taking its
inspiration from the arches of Ancient Rome, it bears
the illustrious names of the history of France and
sculpted reliefs. From its platform roof, at a height of
over 50 meters, you can admire one of the finest
views of Paris and its famous avenue, the ChampsElysées.
Avenue des Champs-Élysées
From the Arc de Triomphe to the Place de la Concorde, the most beautiful avenue
of the world is a high place of business, du luxury and night life. Beyond the
Roundabout, Champs-Élysées are transformed into a vast garden which takes in
theaters, museums and great restaurants.

Palais Royal
Richelieu died there, Louis XIV passed a part of his
childhood there. Then the princely estate became a
place of debauchery where multiplied dives and
houses of pleasure: the place was prohibited to the
police. The calm returned on the palace and its
gardens before in 1980, Daniel Buren and his famous two-tone columns start a
resounding polemic.
Place Vendôme
In the past, balls were given on the Place Vendôme, from now on temple of the
jewelry, whose shops frame large granite flagstones.

Église de la Madeleine
It evokes a Greek temple, with its bronze doors and its gigantic Corinthian columns.
It is however well a church. You do not let divert by the austerity of places and
enter to admirer the building and many marbles which decorate it.
Palais Garnier – Opéra National de Paris
Jewel of bronze, marble, stone and fine gold, the
Palais Garnier is one of the most famous scenes of the
dance. Its architecture Napoleon III hides treasures of
decoration but also amazing wings where 70
corporations bustle about!

Day 6 : Tuesday 20 November 2012
Breakfast at the hotel. Departure for a guided visit of Montmartre and
the Basilique du Sacré-Cœur:
Montmartre has successfully preserved its village soul
and you will quickly understand why several artists
such as Van Gogh, Renoir and Toulouse Lautrec chose
to live there at the end of the 19th century. At the top
of the hill, the Basilique du Sacré Coeur, with its
Romanesque and Byzantine architecture, is one of the
premier religious buildings in Paris.

Breakfast at the hotel. Departure to visit Versailles:
High place of the world heritage welcoming nearly 15
million visitors a year, the castle of Versailles is both
royal residence, museum of history and national
palace where seat the Parliament assembled in
congress.
Thus, more than hundred rooms of the castle show
pomp of the ancient royal residence, while a hundred others present, on more
10.000m², the remarkable whole of paintings and sculptures of Museum of the
French History created by Louis-Philippe in 1837.
National estate, the site of Versailles represents nearly 787 hectares including also
castles of Trianon and the estate of Marie-Antoinette, French gardens of André Le
Nôtre and the Big Park of a surface of 431 hectares.

CENTRE POMPIDOU : For the period of the exposure to the BPI Press, organized at
the time of the Tercentenary one of the birth of the Abbot of the Sword Spaces, the
Centre Pompidou organizes visits LSF and LSI in the exposures of the autumn (from
November 7th to December 3rd, 2012).
Mainly November 21st and 22nd in the exposure DALI: In 150 paintings among
which the masterpieces coming from Reina Sofia de Madrid but also the
emblematic table preserved at MoMA of New York, the soft Watches, this
retrospective exposure clarifies the work and the personality of Dalí, precursor of
the art of attitude. It will be the occasion to also join together many films and
sound documents in a spectacular scenography.
Group maximum of 20 Deaf people.
Tariff: 30 € the group.
Visit LSF or LSI lasts between 1:30 and 2:00 (in the end of the day, of 18:30 to
22:00).
