OBJECTIVES
Studentswill:
1. acquireanunderstandingofthefollowingmajororganizingconceptsingeography:arealassociation;density,
humanoccupance;pattern;region;scale;spatialdistribution;andspatialinteraction.
2. acquirefacilityintheuseofthegeographer’smodeofinquiryandskillsincluding:
a. thereadingandinterpretationofaerialphotographs,maps,pictures,tablesandgraphs,andother
writtensourcematerials;and
b. fieldworkprocessesofobservationandrecording.
3. havetheopportunitytodeveloppositiveattitudesinrelationtothefollowingtopics:
a. interdependenceamongpeoples;
b. respectforsimilaritiesanddifferencesamongpeoples;
c. clarificationofvaluesinrespecttoothervaluesystems;
d. respectforthescientificmethodofinquiry;and
e. knowledgeofmultiplecausation.
