Welcome back to school! We are very excited about
this school year! This year at Americana we are
using PBIS, Positive Behavior Interventions &
Supports. Recently, all students attended our Kickoff celebration and participated in positive behavior
expectation training in different settings of the
school (classroom, lunchroom, bus, etc.). When
students are caught meeting expectations they will
be rewarded with a Paw Pride ticket. They can use
these tickets to earn different celebrations based on
their classrooms. Students will work with their
teachers to determine a Pawtastic celebration for the month. Every month their will be
different celebration. Celebrations will take place when the classroom has met the
expectations. After they celebrate, the classroom will decide on a new celebration and work
on earning that reward. Doesn’t that sound exciting! But wait there’s more!

Americana Intermediate School
Every quarter there will be a school wide celebration. For the 1st quarter celebration we’re
having a D.J. Lunch Party! That will occur on October 31, 2012! To enhance this rockin’
celebration the student council will be selling glowstick bracelets for $1.00.
At Americana, we believe in working together to create a positive learning environment. We
need your help! The PBIS team is looking for two students and parents to join our team. The
PBIS team meets once a month. Please fill out the back of this newsletter and return to school
if you are interested. Thank you for all the positive behavior that we have seen these first few
days of school. Keep up the hard work!
