“Erin is a hilarious chick
with a sense of humor as
finely tuned as her
cello…she wields her bow
with the same wit and
savvy that a satirist
wields his pen!”

Undeniably Unique…”

Erin and Her Cello have been charming audiences with their quirky,
vivacious, and undeniably unique (Strings Magazine) performances all
over the east coast. From Joe's Pub to BAM, Rockwood Music Hall to
World Café Live, this kooky songstress and her stringed soul mate simply
cannot be confined to one musical genre. Her new album “Petits
Bisous,” packs a retro punch -- playfully melding 50’s/60’s doo wop, surf
rock, jazz, funk, and french pop. And as always, this winner of Stand Up
NY’s “Music is a Joke” contest and darling of the downtown comedy
scene (she frequently appears at Upright Citizen’s Brigade in NYC)
underscores every song with deft wit. As in her debut album, Erin Hall
(the singer, songwriter, and arranger behind her swinging seven-piece
band) delightfully deconstructs love and relationships as she doo-wops
her way through life's sticky situations - from being the rebound in
‘Rebound Magnet’, to french kissing, to smelly breakdancers on the
subway, to waking up in the morning and not knowing where she is.
Despite these hilarious ups and disastrous downfalls, Hall still manages
to touch on the serious side of life, reminding us that love doesn’t always
win in ‘2 Good 2 B True,’ but that there is always hope in finding new
love, closing the album with poignant cello lines and spot-on vocal
harmonies in ‘Just Maybe’. “Erin and her Cello” are: Erin Hall, cello and
vocals, Aya Kato piano, Lars Jacobsen saxophone, Gabe Shuford
keyboards, Andrew Potenza drums, and the sassy stylings of Anna
Marquardt and Adam Enright on backup vocals. “Petits Bisous” was
produced by Don Godwin & Erin Hall.
