about persuading the reader to visit your place. What
amazing things could the reader see? Why should they
travel to your place? You can type up your work, use
Powerpoint and add photos or pictures.
Make a fact file about Volcanoes. Select information and use
diagrams to explain the facts.
This website has lots of interesting information to help you.
Lost!
Imagine you are lost in space or a very hot or cold
place. Write a letter asking for help. Tell the
reader what it is like and how you have tried to
escape. Think about what would happen to you if
you are not rescued. You can add pictures or
decoration to your letter.
Factor Firework
Prefer facts? Research project.
Carry out research on the internet and from books.
Choose a hot or cold place. Carry out research about
your chosen place and present it for the class. You could
use Powerpoint, make an information booklet or create a
poster.
Use the work you have already done in Maths on Factors
to create your own ‘Factor Firework’. Once you have
worked out all the factors for a number, draw a
firework exploding with the same number of mini
explosions as factors, each of them showing a different
factor. Make sure you don’t choose Prime Numbers or
numbers with too many factors.
• Look around your home and count how many different 2D
shapes you can find. List 10 different objects and their shape
(eg, television – rectangle).
• Describe and draw 5 different shapes that you can see.
• Which shapes have right angles? Draw the object and show
the right angle.
• Which shapes have lines of symmetry? Draw the object and
show the lines of symmetry.
• Design a plan for a square room using only 2D shapes. Use
different shapes to represent the furniture in your room (eg,
circle for chair, rectangle for bed, etc). You can decide what
furniture to have in your room. Label the items in your room.
I want to be an author. Travelling into the unknown.
Ever dreamed of writing your own short story or creating a
picture book? Well this is the task for you. Write a short story
about travelling into the unknown. This might involve going to an
unknown planet or waking up in a fantasy land. Why not type up
your story and add illustrations, just like a real book?
Do 3 examples and try to make each as attractive
as you can!
Feeling artistic? Portrait of a monster.
Draw a fantasy creature, either of your own
design or from mythology or stories. Don’t forget
to show the setting that suits the creature.
