01. ‘That’s Limerick City’
Launch
The milk market, limerick 5pm
Limerick Civic Trust brings ‘That’s Limerick
City,’ a pop-up people’s museum. All are
invited to join this opening of the Limerick
City of Culture Legacy Project under the
History & Heritage strand. Housed in the
historic venue of the Milk Market, visitors and
stallholders will be surrounded with images
and words that try to answer the question
“What is Limerick city’s culture?” Limerick
citizens have loaned and donated objects, in
addition to audio and visual imagery, to
display in the Market House and images for
the walls of the courtyard.
All walks of life mingle and trade under the
big top, what better place to show the
vibrancy, history and characters of our city. All
talks, workshops and tours are free, creating
an open space for debate and dialogue
around the different ways history can be
displayed. With family and business
photographs and letters, Limerick people
have been documenting the living history of
our city and communities. We are all curators
of our history and this temporary museum
will be there to collect our stories and engage
in a new way.
Refreshments will be provided along with
musical entertainment by the Music Legacy
project - the Pigtown Fling.

1940's radio is written by Jayson McDonald
(Natural Broadcasting Company, Canada).
Director Norma Lowney will once again be
joined onstage by Karen Fitzgibbon, Kevin
Kiely and Darren Maher, each performing a
host of characters and live foley
accompanied by the musical stylings of
David Irwin. If you'd like a sneak preview,
join them on Culture Night and enjoy some
murderous mayhem!

top, and how a clown takes life? Watch as
Simon Thompson prepares and transforms

To celebrate Culture Night 2014, the
Association of Irish Choirs, assisted by
singers from the Irish Youth Choir, are
holding a choral singing workshop open to
adults and teenagers from across
Limerick. There is no need to have any
singing experience; this workshop will act
as a taste of what it’s like to be in a choir
and to sing with others. Did you know
singing in a choir is good for you? It is
proven to lift your mood and studies have
found that a group of singers actually
synchronise their heart beats. Experienced
singers are also invited along to meet
other singers and learn some new music.
Perhaps your choir needs more singers?
Maybe you want to join a choir? This might
be the place to find what you’re looking for!
The focus of the event will be uplifting song
and fun.
