Dear parents/guardians of 1st grade students:
¡Hola! May is going to be an exciting month at Classical. We will be recognizing “5 de mayo” on Friday, May 9th:
 Spirit Day: Students are invited to wear red, green, and/or white colored clothes or other “Mexico” apparel
that day (in accordance with school dress code).
 Cascarones: Students will have the opportunity to participate in the Hispanic tradition of breaking
cascarones (confetti-filled eggshells) after lunch. We are asking that families make cascarones and bring
them to the office prior to Friday,May 2nd. Directions for making cascarones can be found in the Classical
Columns.
 All-School Dance: Appleton’s own Salsa Manzana will perform live in the Classical School forum from 5:307:30 p.m. All Classical students and their families are invited to attend. Any students in attendance must be
accompanied by a parent. There will also be a performance by the Classical School Salsa Club!
We will also be learning how to describe people/things and talk about our feelings in Spanish. Below are the
vocabulary lists we will be working with. Please take some time, when you can, to practice these with your children
over the next few weeks. As always, if you have any questions or concerns, please do not hesitate to contact me.
The best way to reach me is by e-mail: [email protected].
Gracias,
Señora Cihlar
