PRESS RELEASE MTC PAVES WAY FOR MORE TIMBER CONSTRUCTION AT ECOBUILD SEA The Malaysian Timber Council (MTC) to highlight timber’s vast qualities as a top building material at construction fair KUALA LUMPUR (10 APRIL 2017): As timber changes the skylines all over the world, more builders are learning about wood’s innate qualities as a superior building material. As the only organic, renewable and sustainable construction material, timber is making its presence felt in the Southeast Asia region. Ecobuild Southeast Asia 2017 (Ecobuild SEA), a trade fair that displays sustainable construction products, will be held at the Kuala Lumpur Convention Centre from 12 - 14 April 2017. With its theme – Quality, Safety and Professionalism – the fair is set to showcase one of the four strategic pillars under the Construction Industry Transformation Programme. In its quest to encourage and promote the use of timber as a sustainable and resilient construction material in the built environment, MTC will be present at the fair to highlight the developments and ways of Malaysian timbers can be used. “Timber is a strong, reliable and beautiful material. It is imperative that we revive its use as a superb construction material,” said MTC Chief Executive Officer Datuk Dr Abdul Rahim Nik. At the same time, MTC will be conducting a special seminar for students on 14 April 2017 from 2.30pm to 4.30pm to highlight the amazing versatility of timber as a building material. Three events will run concurrently at the fair, Greenbuild 2017, Energy Efficiency Malaysia as well as the Construction Showcase and Construction Career Fair.
