Great Silk Road country
Ancient Great silk Road caravans
used to pass through Georgia along
the centuries. They connected east
to west and north to south and
made significant cultural influence
on Georgia. Antic cave town of
Uplistsikhe with more than 350 still
existing caves was an important
trade city lying on the route. It is
well preserved and fascinates its
visitors.
Cradle of Wine
Georgia is officially recognized as
the home-land of wine – the place
where wine was first made
8 000 years ago. 500 endemic vine
breeds still grow here. Georgian
way of Qvevri (clay vessel buried
underground) wine-making is listed
on UNEsCO Intangible heritage list.

Golden Fleece
The Greek legend about the
Argonauts tells the story about
Jason stealing the famous Golden
Fleece from legendary Kingdom of
Colchis. And the legendary Kingdom
of Colchis was in nowadays west
Georgia. The national museum
exhibits the jewelry from those
ancient times of the Argonauts.
The Gold, used to produce those
exquisite items was mined and
elaborated in Georgia.
One of the first Christian
countries
Christianity was first preached in
Georgia back in the 1st century AD
by the Apostles of Christ. The country
became Christian in 337 AD and was
the third officially Christian country
in the world.The religious center –
Mtskheta is listed on UNEsCO World
heritage list. According to the legend
one of the most important Christian
relics – part of the Robe of Christ is
buried there.
Language and script
Georgia is one of those ancient
countries that has unique language
and script. Georgian language
belongs to Iberian-Caucasian
language family and is a unique
language having no parallels
worldwide. Georgian alphabet is
one of the 14 existing alphabets
in the world and there’s no script
similar to it. There are presently 33
letters in Georgian.
A 3000-year-old state
Georgia has one of the world’s
richest and oldest histories.
Archeological excavations provide
clear evidence that Georgian tribes
formed their statehood as early
as the second millennium BC. The
remains of the flourishing Georgian
states of Colchis and Iberia can be
seen while travelling in the ancient
cities of Vani, Kutaisi and Mtskheta.

Georgian folklore has been created
along many centuries. Georgian
dance is amazingly diverse and

Day 5: Sighnaghi – Mtskheta – Gudauri
Today we visit the ancient capital and religious
center of Georgia – Mtskheta (3000 years
old) and see its historical places: ancient Jvari
Monastery (6th c) and impressive Svetitskhoveli
Cathedral (11th c). Continue to the Great
Caucasus along Georgian Military Highway.
En route we visit the outstanding monument
of Georgian architecture – Ananuri Complex
famous for its carved facades. Travel to Gudauri
following the serpentine road of Cross Pass.
Overnight in Gudauri ski resort (2200 m).
Day 6: Gudauri – Kazbegi – Gudauri
Our morning starts with a stop at the mosaic built
on a hilltop and offering the impressive views over
the Great Caucasus Mountains. Next stop is at the
highest point of the Cross Pass (2395m). We’ll have
a quick stop at auburn travertine taking the color
from mineral water that contains much iron. Finally,
we arrive in Kazbegi and enjoy the magnificent
view to Mt. Kazbegi – 5047m. Take a walk to 14th
century Gergeti Church (2170m) and admire the
grandeur of the surrounding mountains. In the
afternoon walk back to Kazbegi and visit a local
master to learn more about Georgian Teka (felt)
making secrets. After the tour transfer to Gudauri.

Georgia – one of the ancient countries on earth which has a lot
and even more to offer to the travelers. Fascinating landscapes,
splendid great Caucasus Mountains and breathtaking views,
hospitable people and cuisine, rich history and culture will surely

Day 1: Departure for Tbilisi
Day 2: Tbilisi
Today we will explore the capital of Georgia,
Tbilisi. Wonder in the old districts of the city
which are structured like terraces, as well as take
a walk in the narrow streets to enjoy colorful
houses, patterned balconies and wonderful
samples of modern architecture. We will start
the tour from Metekhi church (13th c) facing the
magnificent views of old Tbilisi. A stroll along the
winding little streets takes us to the main sights
of the city. Afterwards we enjoy the panoramic
views of the whole town and through the
ancient Narikala fortress (4th c), find ourselves
in the historical domed sulphur bath area –
connected with the name of our city. Finally, the
Golden Fund of the historical museum will prove
the fact that Georgia is truly the land of the
Golden Fleece. Overnight in Tbilisi.
Day 3: Tbilisi – David Gareja – Sighnaghi
Travel to David Gareja cave monastery (6th c)

located in a stark, semi-desert area. We’ll see
Lavra caves where monks live and then take a
walk up on a steep uphill for about 50 minutes
to Udabno Monastery to enjoy its wonderful
painted caves and dramatic views across to
Azerbaijan. Then we travel to the beautiful little
town of Sighnaghi (18th c) enchanting with
its impressive old city-wall and tiny houses
decorated by patterned balconies and tile roofs.
We can enjoy the breathtaking views of the
Great Caucasus Mountains and Alazani valley
from Sighnaghi. Overnight in Sighnaghi.
Day 4: Sighnaghi – Kvareli – Gremi –
Tsinandali – Sighnaghi
Kakheti is famous for wine-making and it
is associated with good wine and openhearted hospitality. First we visit 300 year
old wine-cellar and taste Qvevri wine, made
according to ancient traditional methods.
Georgian peasants used to make wine with
the same technique for many centuries. Qvevri
wine-making is listed on UNESCO Intangible
Heritage list. Then we continue to another
winery to taste red and white wines made
according to modern methods. For lunch we
visit a local family in countryside and get a
closer understanding of everyday life of local
people, see their orchard and vineyard and
later we’ll be invited to home-made delicious
lunch with Georgian wine and Chacha
(Georgian firewater). Continue to Gremi
Complex (16th c). After the tour we travel to
Tsinandali to visit a palace and a wonderful
garden of a Georgian duke.
Transfer to Sighnaghi.
Day 7: Gudauri – Uplistsikhe – Akhaltsikhe
Descending from the mountains we visit “Iago’s
winery” in Chardakhi village, where we taste
unique Bio-wines made according to Georgian
traditional methods. It’s noteworthy that you can
find “Chinuri” wine on unique wine-list of hotel
“Ritz” in London. Continue to Gori – the town
where J. Stalin was born. We’ll have a visit to
his house-museum. One more highlight still to
be discovered today is ancient Uplistsikhe cave
town (6th century BC) lying on the Great Silk
Road route. The ancient caravans transporting
silk from China to Europe used to stop here for
overnights. The town consists of living quarters,
Zoroastrian temples, market, pharmacy, winecellar and in its great days used to house 20 000
people. After the tour we travel to Akhaltsikhe
for overnight.
Day 8: Akhaltsikhe – Vardzia – Akhaltsikhe
Today’s tour runs across the winding road in the
lee of the Lesser Caucasus Mountains. Our first
stop will be at Khertvisi fortress (10th c) built
on the confluence of two rivers. Continue to
the magnificent cave town – Vardzia (12th c).
It stretches over half a kilometer along the river
Mtkvari and has 19 tiers. There used to be about
3000 caves (50000 people could live there). It has a
church hewn out in rock with amazing 12th century
frescos. The complex also includes dwellings
quarters, small hall-type churches, refectories,
wine cellars and pharmacy. We’ll walk out the site
through a long tunnel and feel the heartbeat of the
cave town. After the tour we return to Akhaltsikhe
and visit renovated Rabath hilltop castle.
Day 9: Akhaltsikhe – Kutaisi
Travel to west Georgia, town of Kutaisi –
according to the myth, Aia (nowadays Kutaisi)
was the capital of mighty Kingdom of Colchis
where the Argonauts sailed to steal the
legendary Golden Fleece. We’ll visit UNESCO
World Heritage Sites of Gelati Monastery and
Academy (12th c) and Bagrati Cathedral (11th c).
Gelati is exquisite with its murals and the altar
mosaic consisting of around 2 million gilded
tiny stones. Later we visit Prometheus grotto
with huge underground halls of stalactites and
stalagmites. Overnight in Kutaisi.
Day 10: Kutaisi – Zugdidi – Mestia
In the morning visit a royal palace of Dadiani
family (local dukes, 19th c). The museum collection
includes private belongings of the family as well
as ethnographic collection of the area. Most
exciting part of our tour is still to come! We take a
tour to Upper Svaneti province – UNESCO World
Heritage Site. We’ll have a few photo stops and
arrive in Mestia. The real gem is history museum
that we shouldn’t miss. Overnight in Mestia.
Day 11: Mestia – Ushguli – Mestia
A 4WD tour to the remote village of Ushguli
is truly unforgettable experience. We’ll pass
indigenous villages and arrive in Ushguli located
on 2200m. We take a walk in the village to take
a glance at local houses and towers and continue
our walk towards Lamaria church overlooking the
village. From Lamaria we’ll enjoy the breathtaking
view to Mt. Shkhara – the highest of Georgia,
5068m. After the tour we return to Mestia.
Day 12: Mestia – Batumi
We leave the mountains today and drive to
maritime town of Batumi. Here we’ll visit
Botanical Gardens with rare plants of different
continents and ancient Gonio Fortress (1st
century AD). While strolling in the streets of
Batumi, we’ll see the most beautiful square
of Georgia – Piazza, charming its visitors with
stained-glass and architecture. We’ll also see
the statue of Medea and astrological clock
on Era Square and at the end take a walk in
Batumi Boulevard which is the favorite spot of
the guests of Batumi with its modern sculptures,
fountains and cafes.
Day 13: Batumi – Tbilisi
Transfer to Tbilisi and free time. Overnight in
Tbilisi.

Day 4: Kazbegi – Juta – Kazbegi
In the morning we drive through the spectacular
Sno Valley to the village of Juta (2165m). This old
village still surprises the visitors with its preserved
ancient way of life. Surrounded by the gorgeous
mountains it is completely cut off from the whole
country during six months. In Juta, we attend local
cheese making process and our host will gladly
invite us at tea and natural mountain honey. In
Kazbegi we take a walk to 14th century Gergeti
Church (2170m) and admire the grandeur of
the surrounding mountains and Mt. Kazbegi –
5047m. In the afternoon visit Art House, where
we will see how they make Georgian Felt. We

Day 5: Kazbegi – Uplistsikhe – Borjomi
Visit the ancient Uplistsikhe cave town (6th
century BC) lying on the Great Silk Road route.
Lunch at the local family with homemade
dishes. Walking and tasting the famous mineral
water “Borjomi” in Borjomi Park. Overnight in
Borjomi.
Day 6: Borjomi – Akhaltsikhe – Vardzia
In the morning visit the local market in
Akhaltsikhe, as well as renovated Rabath hilltop
castle. Then we continue to the magnificent cave
town – Vardzia (12th c). It stretches over half a

local family, our main dish will be trout. In the
evening attend Meskhetian bread baking process
and taste homemade Matsoni. Overnight at a

Day 7: Vardzia – Tsalka – Tbilisi
Today we return to Tbilisi via Tsalka. On the way
we pass the most beautiful lakes, which are in
harmony with steppe landscapes. We taste local
cheese, chocolate and jams made by nuns at
Poka monastery. Two overnights in Tbilisi.
Day 8: Kakheti region
First, we visit the local family famous for being
the Qvevri – clay vessel makers (the unique
pitcher for keeping the wine). For lunch we visit
another local family in countryside and get a
closer understanding of everyday life of local
people, see their orchard and vineyard and later
we’ll be invited to home-made delicious lunch,
Georgian wine and Chacha (Georgian firewater).

IN PURSUIT OF THE SAINTS
Day 5: Tbilisi – David Gareja – Kvareli
Drive to David Gareja cave complex located in
a stark, semi-desert landscape. This monastery
was founded in 6th century by one of the Syrian
fathers –David. It was one of the major spiritual
centers of the whole region housing even 6000
monks on special religious days. Overnight in
Kvareli.
Georgia is one of the world’s first Christian countries. It was
officially converted to Christianity in 337AD with the evangelism
of St. Nino of Cappadocia. Christianity in Georgia starts from the
1st century though: Holy Apostles Andrew the First-Called, Simon
the Canaanite and Mathias preached the Gospel here. In the 6th
century 13 Syrian fathers came to preach Christianity once again.
Following the footsteps of these saints we will take you deep
into the history of Christianity in Georgia and get to know all its
important developing steps from the 1st century till today.
Day 1: Arrive in Batumi
Batumi city tour. Overnight in Batumi.
Day 2: Batumi – Akhaltsikhe
We start to follow the routes of the Saints by
visiting Gonio fortress, where the tomb of the
apostle Matthias is kept. Then we continue to
Meskheti region via beautiful Goderdzi pass
(2025m). According to the historical sources, St.
Andrew the First-Called made many miracles in
this region and converted people to Christianity.
Visit Zarzma monastery standing in the middle
of Muslim village and well-known for its
amazing frescos. Two overnights in Akhaltsikhe.
Day 3: Akhaltsikhe – Vardzia – Akhaltsikhe
We will visit Khertvisi fortress and magnificent
cave town Vardzia (See the fresco of the most
beloved Georgian queen – Tamar later canonized
by Georgian Synod as the saint). Afterwards
we continue to the caves of Vani – used as a
nunnery in 7th century. In the evening drive back
to Akhaltsikhe.

Day 6: Kakheti Region
Many churches and cloisters in Kakheti are
connected with names of 13 Syrian fathers.
We visit couple of them: impressive Alaverdi
Cathedral (11th c), Ikalto (6th c) and Nekresi
Monasteries (4th c). As Kakheti is famous for
its wine and cuisine, we visit local’s house for
lunch, see unique wine-cellars and taste typical
wines. Drive to Tbilisi.
Day 7: Tbilisi
Tbilisi city tour. As the final spot of our tour
tracing the saints in Georgia we visit Mama
Daviti (one of the Syrian fathers) Church
situated on Mtatsminda (meaning Holly
Mountain).

First we drive to see Mtskheta. Continue and
visit “Iago’s winery” in the village of Chardakhi

most expensive restaurants of the world. Here
we will have a master class of the traditional
Georgian dish – Khinkali making. Afterwards we
visit “Chateau Mukhrani” which dates back to
the 16th century. We will taste the top quality
local wines which are famous for being produced
by the unique combination of Georgian
traditional and world renowned major methods
of wine making. Dish of the Day: Khinkali.
Day 6: Gudauri – Kazbegi – Gudauri
In the morning we head to Kazbegi. Get on
horseback and ride to 14th century Gergeti
Church (2170m) and admire the grandeur of
the surrounding mountains. This is truly an
unforgettable experience for the children and
their parents! In the afternoon return to Gudauri.
Day 7: Gudauri – Uplistsikhe – Tskaltubo
Travel to Gori and visit Stalin’s birth house.
One more highlight still to be discovered today
is ancient Uplistsikhe cave town (6th century BC)
lying on the Great Silk Road route. This place
is like playground for the children, where they
can discover many caves of different sizes and
shapes. After the tour we travel to west Georgia
and stay for two nights at spa town of Tskaltubo.
FAMILY TOUR
Day 8: Tskaltubo – Kutaisi – Tskaltubo
First we visit Prometheus grotto with huge
underground halls of stalactites and stalagmites.
Our next stop will be at Sataplia to see the footprint of a dinosaur and take a walk in endemic
Colchis forest. Afterwards we’ll explore UNESCO
World Heritage Site of Gelati monastery and
academy (12th c). In the evening visit Children’s
Park in Kutaisi to take a ride on a Ferris wheel.

Day 3: Tbilisi – Sighnaghi – Kvareli
Today we travel to the beautiful little town of
Sighnaghi (18th c). We visit a local family to get
acquainted with the everyday life of a local
peasant. Children will see domestic animals
and pick ecologically farmed fruit (peaches,
nectarines, watermelons, grapes, figs).Here we’ll
enjoy our delicious lunch as well. Later we travel
to Kvareli to take a rest at a hotel. We’ll have
plenty of time to enjoy a lake boat trip, riding
the bicycles or taking a swim in a pool. Two
overnights in Kvareli.
Day 4: Kvareli – Gremi – Tsinandali –
Telavi – Kvareli
Today we explore the countryside of Kakheti
province and visit Gremi Complex (16th c)
consisting of beautifully painted church,
bell-tower and the museum and continue to
Tsinandali to visit a palace and a wonderful
garden of a Georgian duke (19th c). Transfer to
Kvareli to enjoy home-made lunch and take part
in Georgian delight – Churchkhela preparation.
Day 5: Kvareli – Mtskheta – Gudauri
Today we visit Mtskheta (3000 years old) and
see its historical places: Jvari Monastery (6th c)
Day 9: Tskaltubo – Batumi
Travel to maritime buzzing town of Batumi.
After city tour we visit the Dolphinarium for
a memorable show. Take a walk in Batumi
Boulevard which is the favorite spot of the
guests of Batumi with its modern sculptures,
dancing fountains and cafes. In the evening
we’ll take a cable car to a view point to enjoy
the glittering lights of Batumi at sunset. Two
overnights in Batumi.
Day 10: Batumi – Kobuleti – Batumi
Take your time to enjoy the day at leisure. You
can take a swim in the Black Sea, sunbathe
or take a walk in the boulevard. In the late
afternoon we travel to Miniature Park, where
you can see the main historical buildings from
all the parts of Georgia and afterwards travel
to Tsitsinatela Amusement Park in Kobuleti.

Day 6: Charm of the west Georgian feast
We travel in the totally different region of upper
Imereti and taste the local cuisine and wine.
Local food is outstanding with elaborate way of
cooking and spices. Many dishes are seasoned
with nuts. Local wine cellars and wines are
different from the ones of other parts of Georgia.
Main dish: roasted piglet and dishes seasoned
with walnuts.
WINE & GOURMET TOUR
Georgia is a real paradise for wine lovers and gourmets. Grapes have
been cultivated in the fertile valleys of Georgia for about 8000 years. The
traditional Georgian method of wine-making in “Qvevri” (clay vessels) is
an intangible Heritage Site of UNESCO. Here you will learn more about
this unique method of wine-making and discover high quality, special
wines. Georgian cuisine is also something you are certainly going to
love! Selected fresh ingredients, various spices, elaborate recipes and, of
course, great cooks make Georgian food tremendously delicious.

the Great Caucasus along Georgian Military
Highway. En route we visit the outstanding
monument of Georgian architecture – Ananuri
Complex. Finally, we arrive in Kazbegi and enjoy

Day 3: Kazbegi – Gergeti – Juta
Take a walk to 14th century Gergeti Church
(2170m) and admire the grandeur of the
surrounding mountains. In the afternoon walk
back to Kazbegi and visit a local master to

Day 14: Dartlo – Diklo
This day we explore more Tushetian villages
with breathtaking nature, ancient traditions and
interesting architecture. We trek to Diklo village.

We take a walk to tiny Abudalauri Lakes.
One is green-looking due to water plants in
transparent mountain waters and the other is
unusual light blue. Both are ice cold, but you

of wild flowers to the Khevsuri Aragvi River,

Day 15: Diklo – Shenako – Omalo
In the morning we start walking in the beautiful
valley and trek to Shenako village and then to
the center of Tusheti – Omalo. We’ll go through
Keselo (Old Omalo) to see its ancient towers and
enjoy the view to stunning mountains. Camp in
Omalo.
Walking time: 4 hrs;  400m  300m
Day 9: Ardoti – Mutso – Shatili – Ardoti
A day of walking and sightseeing that starts in
the village Mutso. Afterwards we explore the
village Shatili with its traditional defense towers.
These villages offer us the opportunity to better
understand the culture and the traditions of this
province. In the afternoon walk back to Ardoti.

Day 16: Omalo – Telavi
Today we drive to Telavi. On the way visit the
impressive Alaverdi Cathedral (11th c). Overnight
in Telavi.
Day 10: Ardoti – Mt. Atsunta
We hike via beautiful meadows from Ardoti to
the foot of Atsunta Pass. The way is impressive

We get on our vehicle to drive to Tbilisi. Upon
arrival we take a rest and then enjoy a free
evening to explore the town on our own, find
some souvenirs or have drinks at charming local

Day 8: Adishi – Iprari
Today we walk to Iprari – another remote
village of Upper svaneti. We cross a river on
a horseback, and walk on Chkhutnieri Pass
(2700m). Rhododendron bushes are all along
the path. On the pass, we have a feeling that the
snowy Mt. Tetnuldi is at hand touch. Mt. Ushba
is well visible on the horizon.Overnight in Iprari.

Day 9: Iprari – Ushguli
Today we walk to the village of Ushguli (2200m)
the highest permanently inhabited village in
Europe and UNEsCO World heritage site. On the
way we will pass through several old villages,
find ourselves on deep forest track, which takes
us to the meadows and enjoy the panoramic
view of snowy Mt. Tetnuldi. Ushguli is most
famous for its abundance of watchtowers and
this is where you get the view of the highest
mountain in Georgia – Mt. shkhara (5068m).

TREKKING IN sVANETI
A travel to svaneti is an experience for life. hardly anything has
changed there for the last few centuries. Upper svaneti is famous
for its mediaeval watchtowers, snow-capped peaks, icy waterfalls,
virgin nature and ancient traditions. The village of Ushguli (UNEsCO
heritage site) – the highest permanently inhabited settlement in
Europe, is sure to be one of the highlights of your trip!
Day 1: Arrival in Tbilisi.
Transfer to the hotel. Overnight in Tbilisi.
Day 2: Tbilisi – Zugdidi – Becho
Early in the morning we take a train from Tbilisi
to Zugdidi. here the most wonderful part of our
journey will begin and we continue our way to
svaneti. Three overnights in Becho.
Day 3: Becho – Etseri – Becho
In the morning start our walk towards Mazeri
pass (2400m). After leaving the Etseri village
we enjoy the perpetually snow covered glaciers.
From the ridge the snow covered Ushba is
visible. Through the picturesque wild flowers we
walk back to Becho.
Walking time: 7 hrs;  950m  1000m
Day 4: Becho – Ushba Waterfalls – Becho
A nice walk in the forest, through the green
meadows and mountain roaring rivers will lead
us to the most beautiful waterfalls of the famous
Mt. Ushba (4700m). If we decide to climb on
top of the waterfall, we will enjoy the impressive
views of Mt. Ushba and the valley of the river. In
the afternoon we return to Becho.
The trek includes the following stages:

stage 2 (medium): Walking time: 5hrs;  500m
stage 3 (hard): Walking time: 8hrs;  700m
Day 5: Becho – Guli pass – Mestia
This day will be one of the most challenging days
during our journey but it’s worth it. steep trail
will bring us to Guli pass (2950m). Gradually
we get closer to Mt.Ushba’s both snowy tops.
From the pass we can see the second giant – Mt.
Tetnuldi. Through the ice bridges, crystal clear
springs and impressive landscapes, we will arrive
in Mestia.
Walking time: 10 hrs;  950m  1000m
Day 6: Mestia – Mulakhi
Today’s track is pleasure to walk.We trek in the
forest trail which will take us in the open field
and the typical medieval svanetian towers will
emerge in front of us. This landscape resembles
us the painting. Our today’s destination is the
village Mulakhi.Overnight in Mulakhi.
Walking time: 4 hrs;  500m  350m
Day 7: Mulakhi – Adishi
Today we may reach 2800m having beautiful
views to Chaneri glacier, Mt. Ushba (4700m),
svaneti range with its highest peak Mt. Laila
(4010m) and then walk down to the remote village
Adishi (2000m), where even in summer mostly
4WD cannot drive to. There’re only 5-6 families

Day 10: Ushguli – Mt. Guri – Ushguli
In the morning we head to Guri Mountain
(2970 m). From the top we get a splendid
bird’s eye view of the gigantic Mt. shkhara and
surroundings. A real thrill of beauty!

Day 11: Ushguli – Shkhara Glacier –
Ushguli
We start our morning walk to the foot of Mt.
shkhara (5068m). A pleasant walk will bring us
to shkhara Glacier. Afterwards return to Ushguli
and visit Lamaria Church (12th c).

Day 12: Ushguli – Lentekhi
The trekking today is a big challenge, but it
will truly stay as an unforgettable memory for
the hikers. steep terrain walk will bring us to
Gorvashi pass (2980m), from where we can see
both upper and the lower svaneti regions and
the most beautiful mountain lakes. Overnight in
a tiny town Lentekhi.
Walking time: 11 hrs;  850m  1900m
Day 13: Lentekhi – Tbilisi
Drive to Tbilisi. Upon arrival we take a rest and
then enjoy a free evening to explore the town on
our own, find some souvenirs or have drinks at

CLIMB UP MT. KAZBEGI
Georgia is a country of mountains over 4000-5000m in height
– an ideal place for climbers. The relatively easy ascent of Mt.
Kazbegi, the more challenging Mt.Ushba and many others are
on offer to mountain lovers. All climbs are accompanied by an
experienced mountain team to ensure your safety.
Mt. Kazbegi – an inspiration for poets and writers is featured
in Greek myths and Georgian legends. Climbing this beautiful
perpetually snow-covered peak of the Caucasus is sure to be an
unforgettable experience.

In the morning we meet a mountain team and
travel along the Georgian Military highway. En
route we visit the ancient capital Mtskheta and
Ananuri complex. We reach the town of Kazbegi
in the late afternoon. Overnight in Kazbegi.
Day 3: Kazbegi – Meteorological Station
We begin our ascent of Mt. Kazbegi with a 9-10
hour walk up to the meteorological station at
3600m. Overnight at meteorological station for
four nights.
Day 6: Free day
After yesterday’s tiring climb, this is a day to
relax. If the weather is bad on day 5, the ascent
will take place today instead.
Day 7: Meteorological Station – Kazbegi
From the meteorological station we return to the
town of Kazbegi. Overnight in Kazbegi.
Day 8: Kazbegi – Tbilisi
In the morning we drive to Tbilisi. Tbilisi
sightseeing tour. In the evening farewell dinner
in a Georgian restaurant with Georgian wine.

We take a gentle climb around the
meteorological station to get acclimatised.
Day 5: To the Summit
Well before sunrise we begin the ascent to the
top of Kazbegi at 5047m.The round trip takes
14-16 hours.

Georgia is a country of high mountains, eternal snow,
amazing ski resorts and of course it’s a great destination for
ski mountaineering.
Gudauri
The Great Caucasus – home to perpetually
snow-capped summits is an ideal place for
ski touring. Just a couple of hours’ drive from
the capital and you are in the heli-ski resort of
Gudauri (2200m) – a popular holiday destination
for Georgians and foreigners alike. The white
winter landscape heals the mind and soul. The
beautifully groomed ski tracks seem to have
no end. Being located on the southern slope of
Caucasus, you can enjoy sunshine all day long.
The runs are of various length and difficulty and
meet the requirements of both amateurs and
professionals. The snow cover is thick and the ski
season lasts from December to April.
Total length of ski runs is 57 km with 6 lifts at
the elevation of 2000-3250m. Each one offers
several routes.
Bakuriani
ski resort Bakuriani is situated in the Lesser
Caucasus at the elevation of 1800m above the
sea level close to Borjomi spa town. surrounded
by the beautiful landscapes and coniferous
forests and alpine meadows it offers stunning
views and salubrious air during your holidays.
Although the mountains here aren’t so high
as those in Gudauri, the landscape is different,
with its combination of mountains and forests
creating an ideal climate for both winter and
summer holidays. ski season lasts from January
to March. Weather is usually calm and shiny.
Bakuriani offers ski runs of varying choice.
Not only skiing but also driving snowmobile,
horseback riding and sledding will make your
stay enjoyable as well as wide range of hotels
equipped with all kinds of leisure facilities.
Svaneti
svaneti is an important ski area, which
surprises the visitors during all four seasons
with beautiful nature, medieval towers, open
hospitality and snow-capped peaks. 4 peaks
from the 10 highest ones of the Great Caucasus
are here. soon the building of infrastructure of
Mt. Tetnuldi which includes 18 ski tracks (total
length 25 km) will come to an end. Among
them there will be the longest (9.5 km) and the
biggest vertical drop of (1.7 km) ski slopes in
the Caucasus.
Winter Resort “hatsvali”, which is located 8 km
from Mestia, has hosted the visitors since 2011.
There are 3 ski slopes on hatsvali. Cable car
brings us to 2350m, from where we enjoy the
snow covered Tetnuldi and impressive views of
the local surroundings.

we’ll see the sheep shelters as the sheep-men
bring their sheep this high up to benign
grasslands. In Sairme we’ll stop to taste

In the morning visit a royal palace of Dadiani
family (local dukes, 19th c). Most exciting part

Heritage Site. We’ll have a few photo stops and
arrive in Mestia. The real gem is history museum
that we shouldn’t miss. Overnight in Mestia.

First we drive to Jinvali water reservoir and then
ride the bicycles to the Sioni Lake. Amazing day

Mountain Lake of Tabatskuri nestled in depth of
surrounding hills. We stop at Khertvisi fortress
(10th c) and then continue to the magnificent
cave town – Vardzia (12th c). After the tour we
arrive in Akhaltsikhe.

Zagaro Pass (2623m) to Lower Svaneti and its
tiny town – Lentekhi. Our route continues to
Kutaisi, where we’ll have time to rest after a long

Travel back to east Georgia and take a turn

In the morning we take a cable car to Mt. Zuruldi
(2400m) from there we can get a perfect view
of snow covered Mt. Tetnuldi (4852m) and in
front of us we enjoy the impressive panorama of
the Greater Caucasus. Continue to the remote
village of Ushguli (located on 2200m) for
truly unforgettable experience. We’ll enjoy the
magnificent view to Mt. Shkhara – the highest of
Georgia, 5068m. Overnight in Ushguli.

Take a 4WD tour to Tusheti – Georgia’s exquisite

Tusheti region – Omalo, where we will spend
the next two nights. After lunch we travel on
horseback to visit the ancient villages of Diklo
and Shenako. In the evening return back to
Omalo. (3.5 hour ride).
Day 4: Omalo – Lake Oreti – Omalo
In the morning we meet our horses and ride to
village Qumelaurta to continue our horse-trek
through beautiful coniferous forest. After an
ascent we find ourselves on an alpine meadow
which deepens its slopes to tiny mountain lake
Oreti. Return to Omalo. Overnight in Omalo.
(5.5 hour ride).
Day 6: Verkhovani – Parsma – Dartlo
Ride up to reach Nakaicho Pass (2500m). On
our way we see the highest village of Tusheti Dadikurta (2360m). After getting to the top we
head down to Pirikita Tusheti gorge. When we
reach the bottom (1600m) we can have some
rest and picnic lunch and ride to see beautiful
Parsma village. In the afternoon ride to Dartlo
village via village Chesho. Overnight in Dartlo.

Day 7: Dartlo – Omalo – Telavi
In the morning we take our ride back to Omalo
village and take the breath of Tusheti with us
while travelling downwards to Telavi.

Day 6: Kazbegi Area
From Kazbegi we take a 2hr walk up through
beautiful valleys and woodland to Gergeti Trinity
Church located at 2170m. If weather permits,
you may catch a glimpse of one of the highest
glaciers in the Caucasus – Mt. Kazbegi (5047m).
Plants we may see: Primula algida, Swertia
iberica, Macrotomia echioides,Pulsatilla violacea
ssp., Scabiosa caucasica, Geranium ssp.
Later drive to Dariali gorge and near the Gveleti
waterfall see some more flowers: Saxifraga

In the morning by 4WD we drive to remote

Sempervivum caucasicum, Linum hypericifolium,
Pyrethrum carneum, Centaurea cheiranthifolia,

Day 8: Kazbegi – Cross Pass – Tbilisi
Transfer to Cross Pass (2395m) and see unique
flowers of the Great Caucasus: Rhododendron
luteum, Pyrethrum carneum, Polygonum carneum,
Campanula ssp. Geranium ssp, Rhododendron

and enjoy time at leisure.

Day 9: Akhaltsikhe – Vardzia – GeorgianArmenian border (Bavra) – Gyumri
Today we drive to visit Vardzia – the magnificent
cave town of the Golden Age. On the way to
Vardzia we will have a stop at Khertvisi fortress.
After the tour we drive to the border in
Ninotsminda, change vehicle and guide and
continue the trip to Armenia. Overnight in
Gyumri.
Day 10: Gyumri – Yerevan
The morning starts with a short sightseeing tour
of Gyumri city – the 2nd largest city in Armenia.
We explore undiscovered corners of Armenia. We
pause at the first village of migratory shepherds
to see the way of their life. Life moves at a
different pace here and it’s hard to re-enter the
21st century. We will come to Amberd fortress.
With its towers, embrasures and arches it is
situated at the altitude of 2300m above sea level
on a high cliff surrounded with deep gorges and
full-flowing rivers. Overnight in Yerevan.
TRANS CAUCASUS TOUR
Caucasus region is located at the crossroad of Europe and Asia
and stands out for its cultural and lingual diversity. On this tour
you will travel to the Great and Lesser Caucasus Mountains, from
the Caspian Sea to the Black Sea, in the Christian and Muslim
countries. You will admire three amazing capitals Tbilisi, Yerevan

Today we will visit Garni temple – a unique
monument of Hellenistic period in Armenia and
the only pagan temple in Armenia. From here
we will descend to the canyon of Garni which is
famous for its unique rock formations – gigantic
basalt pillars often called “the symphony of
stones”. We will then be transferred to the
Goght village to visit a fantastic sample of
medieval Armenian architecture, the Geghard
Cave Monastery. This rock-carved monastery of
13th century is a UNESCO site. Some enclosures
of the monastery have amazing acoustic and it is
a perfect place for singing spiritual songs.
Day 12: Yerevan – Echmiadzin – Yerevan
This excursion takes us to one of the oldest
and cosiest towns of Armenia – Echmiadzin,
which is the religious center of all Armenians.
The main Cathedral of Echmiadzin was the first
official church built in Armenia. Today it is the
Holy See of Echmiadzin, where the Catholicos
of Armenia resides. On a Sunday you can
listen to the beautiful choir performance of
Divine Liturgy here. After this we will visit the
archaeological site of Zvartnots Cathedral, which
is a masterpiece of Armenian architecture! The
area is a UNESCO World Heritage Site.
After coming back to Yerevan we will visit the
Genocide Memorial Complex. If it is a week-end

Day 1: Departure for Yerevan

We have Yerevan city tour and then head to
Garni – a pagan temple and a summer residence
for Armenian royalty. Later we visit Geghard
Monastery (4th c). Three overnights in Yerevan.
Day 3: Yerevan – Echmiadzin – Yerevan
Visit Matenadaran and then depart to Echmiadzin
Cathedral known as the center of the ArmenianGregorian church. Return to Yerevan. En route
stop at Zvarntos temple – the pearl of the 7th
century architecture (inscribed in UNEsCO World
heritage List).
Day 4: Yerevan – Khor Virap – Yerevan

border – Tbilisi
Visit sevan peninsula and Lake sevan situated
in spectacular forested region of Dilijan. Drive to
Armenia-Georgia border and continue to Tbilisi.

Day 8: Kutaisi – Gori – Gudauri
Today we visit Uplistsikhe cave town and stalin
Museum in Gori. Then drive up the famous

Day 9: Gudauri – Kazbegi – Tbilisi
A stunning drive over the cross pass (2395m)
takes us to Kazbegi. We walk up to Gergeti Trinity
church (14th c). After the tour we drive back to
the capital. Two overnights in Tbilisi.
Day 10: Tbilisi – Kakheti Region – Tbilisi
Travel to Kakheti region - famous for winemaking. It is associated with good wine and
open-hearted hospitality. Visit sighnaghi fortified
town, a unique private wine-cellar and a local
family, that hosts us with traditional, Georgian
meal and wine. Taste more high quality wines in
the vineyards. Return to Tbilisi.
Day 6: Tbilisi
