FOREIGN HONOURS to CANADIANS 1982 to 2016
(Updated to the Canada Gazette of 30 July 2016)
Foreign honours are considered official honours if the country
initiating the award receives permission from the government of
Canada to make the award.
Since July 1982, official foreign
awards can be found in the Canada Gazette, Part 1, usually in the
last gazette of each month. The following are the major foreign

Lieutenant-Colonel Daniel Richard Stepaniuk has been invested as a Knight of
the National Order of Honour and Merit (5th Class). This honour is conferred
by the President of the Republic of Haiti. Lieutenant-Colonel Stepaniuk is
currently the G3 at 4 Canadian Division JTFC HQ at Toronto.
Formerly a Regimental Officer serving with the 3rd Battalion The Royal
Canadian Regiment, he is presently a member of the Royal Hamilton Light
Infantry (RHLI).
Lieutenant-Colonel Stepaniuk was commanding Officer of the RHLI from 16 May
2010 to 26 May 2013.
